“Saturday Night Live” decided to spoof the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” in a Christmas episode — to show the world how things might be if Donald Trump hadn’t won the 2016 presidential election.

“I don’t think I can do this anymore,” Alec Baldwin’s Trump says in the cold open.

“It’s awful, everything’s falling apart, sometimes I wish I was never president.”

From there, cast member Kenan Thompson — essentially playing the guardian angel from “It’s a Wonderful Life” — takes Baldwin’s Trump to a Christmas party to show how “SNL” thinks things would be at the moment at which Trump is not actually president.

“Everyone looks so different. What are those things on their faces?” Baldwin’s Trump asks.

“Those are called smiles, Mr. Trump,” Thompson replies.

The first White House staff member to visit him in this scenario is Aidy Bryant’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders; “SNL” claimed the White House press secretary is rich from working in public relations — and representing the romaine lettuce industry.

Baldwin’s Trump then sees Kate McKinnon’s Kellyanne Conway, who says her relationship with her husband, George, has improved (George Conway is fervently anti-Trump and makes that clear on social media).

Baldwin’s Trump also says the counselor to the president looks great — to which she replies, “Actually that’s because I’m no longer eaten inside by lies.”

When Baldwin’s Trump realizes Hillary Clinton is president in this fantasy, he then asks if her 30,000 missing emails were ever found.

Who do you think would win the Presidency?

By completing the poll, you agree to receive emails from LifeZette, occasional offers from our partners and that you've read and agree to our privacy policy and legal statement.

Thompson then says, “Yes, they [were]. They were all Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons.”

“SNL” also showed Cecily Strong’s Melania Trump married to John Schnatter — the founder of Papa John’s.

However, the relationship of Baldwin’s Trump in this whole scenario with his former attorney Michael Cohen is still strong.

“I would never flip on you. You’re my best friend,” Ben Stiller’s Cohen says. “Since it’s Christmas, I just want to say you taught me everything I know … like O.J. [Simpson] and Kato [Kaelin] or Lyle and Eric Menendez.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow at the opening of Trump Tower Moscow,” he adds.

Baldwin’s Trump then sees Matt Damon’s Brett Kavanaugh — and asks if he’s still on the Supreme Court.

To that, Damon’s Kavanaugh replies, “Me? On the Supreme Court? With my temper?”

Robert De Niro’s Robert Mueller also made an appearance during the cold open, handing Baldwin’s Trump a piece of paper — which turns out to be a photo of his grandson.

After this, Baldwin’s Trump decides, “I guess the world does need me to be president!”

To this, Thompson says, “Yeah, that was not the lesson at all.”

“SNL” makes abundantly clear on a weekly basis, of course, that it would rather have a Democrat in the White House — to the point that the show last season had a song begging for Barack Obama to come back to the White House.

And the president wasn’t too happy about the latest program.

He tweeted the following about it:

Also, notably, cast member Pete Davidson appeared on the show last night — just shortly after he wrote an Instagram post saying he’d been having suicidal thoughts.

“I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” he wrote — evoking instant worry from celebrities and fans alike.

“I’m doing my best to stay here for you, but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last,” the post read. “All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember I told you so.”

Davidson deleted his Instagram account shortly after that — the police later met with Davidson to perform a “wellness check,” as CNN reported.
