Sunday might not have been a great day for the New England Patriots — they lost 34-33 to the Miami Dolphins on the last play of the game — but quarterback Tom Brady made history during the bout.

The 41-year-old longtime quarterback and friend of President Donald Trump threw three touchdown passes in the loss and broke the NFL’s all-time touchdown passing record (regular season and playoffs combined) with 580.

He tied and then broke the record previously held by retired Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning (579).

The throw came in the second quarter of the bout against the Dolphins — it was a 2-yard pass to Julian Edelman to put the team up 12-7.

The achievement is just another one of Brady’s many, over the course of his highly decorated career.

The quarterback has led the Patriots to five Super Bowl victories and eight appearances in the championship game — the most for any individual quarterback in NFL history.

He earned Super Bowl MVP in four of those contests, which is also an NFL record.

Last month, Brady also broke Manning’s all-time passing yards record (regular season and playoffs combined) by getting to 79,280 on a short pass to rookie running back Sony Michel.

Brady also became the oldest player ever to win the NFL’s MVP Award last season at 40 years old, and he’s not shown any signs of slowing down.

The Patriots are in first place in the AFC East at 9-4 this season, in part thanks to Brady. He has thrown 23 touchdown passes and just eight interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes in 13 games.

It is also worth noting the quarterback is a longtime friend of Trump’s. The two have known each other for well over a decade now and have been golfing together on many occasions.

In 2015, Brady had Trump’s signature Make America Great Again hat in his Gillette Stadium locker and said, “I hope so, that would be great,” when asked his thoughts on a Trump presidency.

President Trump has shown the feeling is mutual on Twitter, writing positively about Brady over the years.

Brady has described the president as “a good friend.”

President Trump has shown the feeling is mutual on Twitter, writing positively about Brady over the years.

When Brady’s daughter, Vivian Lake, was born in 2012, Trump congratulated him and his wife, Gisele Bundchen, writing, “To Tom Brady @patriots and Gisele — Best wishes on the birth of your daughter. Tom is a great player and great friend.”

Following a Patriots 34-9 regular-season win over the Detroit Lions in 2014, in which Brady threw for over 350 yards, Trump said, “Tom Brady played great today. He is a total champ and a really nice guy, a rare combination!”

And following a 20-13 win over the Buffalo Bills in 2015, during which Brady and the Patriots improved to 10-0 on the season, Trump tweeted out, “Tom Brady just did it again. He is not only a great guy, he is, without question, the BEST quarterback!”
