A campaign to help finance a border wall between the United States and Mexico has earned over $16 million since it was posted to GoFundMe six days ago.

Brian Kolfage, a deeply patriotic Air Force veteran and triple amputee, started the campaign and it’s earned praise from many on the Right.

The campaign has gone viral partly because President Donald Trump and Senate Democrats have been unable to come to an agreement to finance the promised border security wall.

But that campaign now has inspired yet another crowdfunding effort — one that works directly against Kolfage’s efforts.

And this other campaign on GoFundMe has raised over $130,000 in three days.

The effort of this campaign is to purchase ladders for illegal immigrants to scale the potential border wall between the United States and Mexico — though the “ladder” angle seems to be getting more attention than any practical effort.

“We saw some folks are raising money for a border wall to keep out our migrant siblings and fellow human beings, who are fleeing violence and persecution and whose tragically underpaid labor is essential to the U.S. economy,” the page’s creator, Charlotte Clymer, wrote on the GoFundMe page. Clymer works for the LGBT advocacy organization Human Rights Campaign in Washington, D.C.

“Seems like a bad idea on countless levels for everyone involved,” she continued. “Maybe we should focus on human rights and creating a community that reflects our supposed values.”

The campaign has a goal of $100 million.

Clymer says if the goal is not reached, then the group will donate whatever money they have raised to Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, a nonprofit organization that provides support to immigrants.

“This GoFundMe isn’t really about ladders at all. It’s about lifting people up,” Clymer says on the campaign’s page.

Kolfage’s campaign, for his part, has a goal of $1 billion.

“President Trump’s main campaign promise was to BUILD THE WALL. And as he’s followed through on just about every promise so far, this wall project needs to be completed still,” Kolfage writes on his GoFundMe page.

He adds, “As a veteran who has given so much, 3 limbs, I feel deeply invested to this nation to ensure future generations have everything we have today.”

“This is not just about Republicans and conservatives. There’s an outpouring of Democrats that are messaging me and giving to this wall fund. It’s from both sides. You don’t hear the liberal media saying that.”

Kolfage recently told Fox News host Laura Ingraham on “The Ingraham Angle” that his campaign is a bipartisan effort.

“This is not just about Republicans and conservatives. There’s an outpouring of Democrats that are messaging me and giving to this wall fund. It’s from both sides. You don’t hear the liberal media saying that,” he said last week.
