Readers are mincing no words when it comes to the recent actions of former first lady Michelle Obama.

Some called her “ungrateful” and “arrogant” in messages they posted on social media. One person said it was “a disgrace that she made fun of the gift Melania Trump gave to her.”

Mrs. Obama recently appeared on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon and went out of her way to say “Bye, Felicia,” when Fallon asked her to comment on what it was like leaving the White House knowing the Trumps were taking over.

The expression “Bye, Felicia” indicates a rude and snide dismissiveness.

(The line was originally used in 1995’s “Friday,” the film that launched rapper Ice Cube’s filmmaking career. His character, Craig, says the line to a character named Felicia who was bothering him. “Friday” was followed by two sequels and an animated series — but the “Bye, Felicia” moment has superseded the franchise and turned into a viral moment often shared on social media.)

Most of the audience present at the Fallon show laughed and cheered when Michelle Obama said that.

People clapped.

But a lot of everyday Americans are still incensed, days later, that the former first lady didn’t show more class and grace when asked about her final days in the White House.

They also acknowledge that if someone like Laura Bush ever said such a thing, well — the mainstream media would have had a field day.

Yet Michelle Obama can do this with no consequences.

She also went out of her way to put down Melania Trump — who graciously gave her a gift when the new first couple arrived at the White House, welcomed by the outgoing first couple.

Mrs. Obama, smiling ear to ear, told Fallon that it was all just “too much.”
