Actress Meryl Streep believes Americans should be scared of President Donald Trump right now because his children are “in jeopardy.”

At the Montclair Film Festival’s “An Evening with Stephen Colbert” fundraiser in New Jersey over the weekend, Streep took the stage and dove immediately into politics and the subject of the current sitting president.

It wasn’t much of a surprise, since leftist late-night host Stephen Colbert introduced the actress by gabbing about politics and Trump.

He even referenced the president’s calling Streep “one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood.”

“I’m scared by [Trump],” the 69-year-old actress said to a crowd of nearly 3,000 when she took the stage.

She added, “I empathize with him. I can’t imagine what his 3 a.m. is like. There is a gathering storm. Everybody feels it. He feels it. His children are in jeopardy and I feel that. I think, what if my children were in jeopardy? I would do anything. Anything! To get them out of trouble. So we should be afraid.”

Streep’s comments likely refer to the Robert Mueller investigation, which has recently mentioned some of Trump’s adult children, including Donald Trump Jr., in regard to the building of a Trump tower in Moscow.

This is fear-mongering, plain and simple, from a leftist Hollywood elite.

We should expect nothing less at this point. All these people have to push are scare tactics these days.

For them, every day is the end of the world and every single day is a new opportunity for big, bad Donald Trump to become dictator of the world. Please …

At this point, Trump was right about Streep.

She is one of Hollywood’s most overrated actresses.

She’s been absolutely incredible and downright gripping in many films — but her politics have become so distracting from her work at this point that it’s hard to see her disappear into roles anymore.

And yes, Streep is a talented artist — but talented enough for 21 Oscar nominations and three wins?

Streep most recently starred in Steven Spielberg’s “The Post” and “Mama Mia! Here We Go Again,” a sequel to the hit 2008 musical.

She’ll next be seen in “Mary Poppins Returns,” which hits theaters on December 19.

She will also soon be jumping into the world of television by joining the second season of the critically acclaimed HBO series “Little Big Lies,” from creator David E. Kelley.

She’s been absolutely incredible and downright gripping in many films — but her politics have become so distracting from her work at this point that it’s hard to see her disappear into roles anymore.

She is most well known for such hit films as “The Devil Wears Prada,” “The Bridges of Madison County,” and “It’s Complicated.”
