Celebrities can say pretty dumb things, especially when it comes to politics.

Many of these “stars” are isolated within the world of Hollywood. They’re disconnected from the everyday struggles of middle- class Americans — and that disconnection can lead them to take some wild political stances.

Or maybe it’s something else altogether.

Unfortunately, in a world in which celebrities have social media megaphones — and endless other outlets, TV awards shows and more as platforms and validation — it’s getting harder and harder to ignore these ridiculous comments.

Here is a look at the five dumbest celebrity comments from 2018.

1.) Jim Carrey: “We have to say yes to socialism.” The “Dumb and Dumber” star has nearly given up on comedy, it seems, during the presidency of Donald Trump. Instead, he’s focused on lame political preaching and bizarre paintings targeting prominent conservatives.

His made his comment about socialism when he was on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” in September.

“We have to say yes to socialism — to the word and everything,” the millionaire filmmaker said. “We have to stop apologizing.”

The rallying cry for Democrats was the perfect example of a celebrity’s not being self-aware enough to hear how ridiculous he sounds. Carrey has made his fortune from capitalism and following his dream — yet he thinks it’s logical to appear on a cable station that people pay for with their hard-earned money and tell the world that socialism is the answer.

2.) Barbra Streisand: “I think even that shooter [in Florida] was affected because Trump brings out the violence in people.” The actress and singer was talking to Variety about the shooter who killed over a dozen people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in February of this year.

Without any evidence or even a plausible theory, Streisand found a way to blame the president of the United States for that horrible shooting.

She came up with a motivation for the shooter that showed just how badly she suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

If that’s not enough — Streisand also blames the president for her own recent weight gain.

3.) Samantha Bee: Ivanka Trump is “a feckless c***.”  The liberal late-night host and outspoken critic of the president showed the vicious hypocrisy of the Left by attacking a conservative woman in a way she’d never tolerate if that conservative woman had different politics.

Bee’s comments are too vulgar to reproduce in their entirety, but Bee crudely called Ivanka Trump a “feckless c***” and even suggested she “put on something tight and low cut” to speak to her own father about his immigration policies.

The comments were hateful — and they targeted a woman in power simply for being a woman.

A conservative would never have gotten away with such misogyny if he or she had said that.

Yet Bee remains on the air.

4.) Ron Perlman: “If you choose to shoot movies and TV in Georgia, don’t bother to call me.” After Democrat Stacey Abrams failed to win her governor’s race in Georgia, actor Ron Perlman said he was boycotting productions in the state.

It’s a strange and egotistical reaction to such news.

Perlman thinks everyone he works for or who works for him should agree with his politics hands down — and he’s so unwilling to listen and to discuss differing ideas that his knee-jerk reaction is to boycott.

Such a boycott, by the way, only hurts working people who perform jobs on those potential sets.

It doesn’t matter all that much, though, because Perlman is nowhere near the in-demand actor he once was. The franchise he led — “Hellboy” — is being rebooted without him and his popular television series — “Sons of Anarchy” — has been over for years now.

5.) Peter Fonda: “We should rip Barron Trump from his mother’s arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles.” The “Boondock Saints II” actor does not like President Trump’s immigration policies. He does not like that people crossing the border are being arrested and shipped back home.

So his answer to things is this: He threatens the president’s youngest child, 12-year-old Barron Trump.

“We should rip Barron Trump from his mother’s arms and put him in a cage with pedophiles and see if mother … will stand up against the giant a****** she is married to. [Ninety] million people in the streets on the same weekend in the country. F***,” the “Easy Rider” actor tweeted over the summer in all capitals.

Those words got Fonda into some hot water.

Many people boycotted a movie he appeared in — “Boundaries,” which flopped in theaters — and he was accused of encouraging “domestic terrorism.”
