Amal Clooney, the activist wife of actor George Clooney, recently made some strong claims about President Donald Trump.

She was named the 2018 Global Citizen of the Year at the United Nations Correspondents Association Awards ceremony on Wednesday morning in New York City, and while speaking at the event, she apparently felt the need to be decidedly anti-Trump — like so many other divisive individuals on the Left these days.

She claimed the Trump administration mistreats journalists — and that those actions have a “chilling effect” worldwide.

Amal Clooney said journalists across the world are “under attack like never before.”

She then claimed it was President Trump’s fault that journalists are being killed in authoritarian nations like North Korea, Turkey and Hungary.

“The U.S. president has given such regimes a green light and labeled the press in this country the ‘enemy of the people,” she said. “And of course two months ago a Washington Post journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, walked into a consulate in Istanbul and was brutally tortured to death.”

Not only is it absurd of Clooney to say the president’s words are responsible for deaths when he has not called for any violence toward the press at all — but she even misinterpreted his words.

Trump said “fake news” was the “enemy of the people” — not the press as a whole.

This is hardly the first time the Clooney family has gone after Trump.

Last year, Mrs. Clooney said the press was “under attack” like never before — and her husband George has also made his share of anti-Trump statements.

He confidently stated on multiple occasions that President Trump would not win the 2016 presidential election.

Back in October, he said Trump stokes a “culture of fear” in America — and last year, his response to President Trump’s critiques of the Hollywood elite was, “Hollywood elite? I don’t have a star on Hollywood Boulevard. Donald Trump has a star on Hollywood Boulevard! F***you!”

The actor then proceeded to call Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon a “p****”.

Not surprisingly, the Clooneys have opened their wallets for political causes.

They donated $100,000 to the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights back in June; they gave $500,000 to the gun control group “March for Our Lives” in February; and last year, they donated $1 million to the Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that has labeled Christians “bigots” and lumped them into hate watch lists that feature neo-Nazis.
