“Four more years! Four more years!” a raucous crowd jamming the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, chanted on Monday night, just a few hours before polls opened for what may be the most significant midterm election in years.

Though President Donald Trump was technically stumping for Republican senatorial candidate Josh Hawley, it was crystal clear to everyone in that arena and everyone watching the final rally that Tuesday’s midterm elections are largely a referendum on the man at the podium.

There is no denying it is a tall order for Republicans.

Midterm elections rarely favor the party in office.

In addition, the last few months of Trump’s administration have seen tragedy and terror at the hands of a crazed mail bomber and a synagogue shooter in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — events that may be fresh in voters’ minds as they go to the polls on Tuesday.

“There’s something going on,” said Trump in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity just prior to beginning his Monday night rally in Missouri. “There’s an electricity that feels like 2016.”

“While we often hear that all politics is local, there’s just no getting away from the fact that Trump’s policies are on the ballot,” said host Laura Ingraham on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” during her opening monologue, in which she focused on protecting and preserving America’s and Americans’ future.

“And that should mean that Republicans do very, very well [on Tuesday],” she added, citing the importance of focusing on the positive impacts of Trump’s policies over his tweets or his tone.

“Trump promised and Trump delivered,” Ingraham said, pointing to record low unemployment figures, a new trade deal, soaring consumer confidence, and other indicators demonstrating that American’s economic engine, driven by the Trump train,  is moving the country forward — full steam ahead.

Rush Limbaugh, who also spoke at the rally in his hometown of Cape Girardeau at Monday night’s rally, hit the nail on the head.

“There isn’t a single elected official in either party who can do what this is tonight,” said Limbaugh, waving an outstretched hand over the crowd, clearly referring to Trump’s unique ability to generate enthusiasm and energy in ways that polls have failed to measure properly in the past.

“There is no other politician with a connection to voters like this,” Limbaugh added.

“Donald Trump is the only bullhorn who matters,” said Monica Crowley, a guest on Monday’s “The Ingraham Angle.”

“If you want to continue this extraordinary record of achievement that Donald Trump and the Republican Congress has delivered to the American people, both in terms of a stronger economy and a stronger international position, vote for those Republican candidates, even if you don’t like particularly your member of Congress. Just do it, because this president needs back up.”

“The smart Republican candidates are the ones who have fully embraced [him], stood by his side,” she added.

“The campaign started with talk of [the] blue wave,” said Fox News’ chief national correspondent Ed Henry on “The Ingraham Angle” on Monday night.

“But it’s closing with elite pundits [like Nate Silver] now hedging on whether Democrats will even take the House as Republicans are poised to perhaps increase their majority in the Senate.”
