“Saturday Night Live” stumbled to a new low with its latest episode when cast member Pete Davidson (pictured above left) decided to go after Dan Crenshaw (above right), an ex-Navy SEAL who is now a Texas congressional candidate.

The combat veteran is missing an eye and now wears an eyepatch — and that’s what Davidson targeted.

Oh, and by the way, Crenshaw lost that eye while serving our great country in Afghanistan.

Davidson appeared on the program’s always left-leaning “Weekend Update” segment. At one point, he showed a picture of Crenshaw and said, “This guy is kind of cool — Dan Crenshaw.”

He continued, “You may be surprised to hear he’s a congressional candidate for Texas and not a hit man in a porno movie.”

Davidson then added, “I’m sorry. I know he lost his eye in war — or whatever.”

Crenshaw is a retired lieutenant commander with the United States Navy.

As the biography on his campaign website make clear, Crenshaw lost his right eye after being hit with an IED [improvised explosive device] in Afghanistan.

After a grueling recovery process, Crenshaw returned to service and completed two more tours of duty.

He retired from military service in 2016 with two Bronze stars, the Purple Heart, the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor — and plenty of other commendations.

By the way, while Davidson was brave enough to go after a war veteran for his physical appearance, he was reportedly not brave enough to address his own personal life through comedy.

Davidson, 24, apparently nixed a planned skit that addressed his recent break-up with singer Ariana Grande.

The two were engaged but recently called things off.

Davidson addressed the break-up — which has been inspiring many headlines — in a promo for the new episode, but reports indicate he asked producer Lorne Michaels to cut any planned coverage after Grande publicly criticized Davidson.

“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh. thank u. next,” Grande wrote in response to the promo in a now-deleted tweet.

Coincidentally, her new single is titled, “Thank U, Next.”

Let’s get the facts straight here, shall we? Pete Davidson is too scared to go after an ex-girlfriend with his humor, but he will go after — with ease — an American combat veteran for an injury he sustained during wartime.

He’s the perfect “SNL” employee as his comedy is as spineless, blinded and one-sided, just like the pathetic show that employs him and features his work.

Twitter reactions to Davidson’s lame dig at Crenshaw have not been kind.
