With the normally apolitical Steve Carell as its host, “Saturday Night Live” went after President Donald Trump over the weekend for one of the weakest reasons possible: his net worth.

The president is worth an estimated $3.1 billion, according to Forbes, and yet during a skit with Carell as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, “SNL” writers thought this was a good reason to attack the president.

The insult also came a few days after Amazon announced its plans to build half of its HQ2 in Long Island City, New York, and the other half in Northern Virginia.

“Everyone, except for the people who live there and the people who live in all of the places we didn’t choose, is thrilled,” Carell’s Bezos said. “Some folks have speculated that I was somehow trolling President Trump by building one headquarter in his hometown of Queens and the other in his current residence of Washington, D.C., thereby overshadowing or humiliating him. But that’s simply not true.”

“Sure, he attacked me repeatedly on Twitter,” he added. “But I chose our new locations because they were ideal for growing business, not just to make Donald Trump think about how I’m literally 100 times richer than he is.”

Although Bezos is the richest man in America — with an estimated $131.9 billion net worth — that is hardly a reason to insult Trump, also one of the richest men in the world.

Carell’s Bezos added, “Any package going to any Trump building will get delivered by hundreds of Honduran and Mexican immigrants and I’ll pick up the bill. Unless you order ‘The Art of the Deal,’ because that costs more to ship, because it’s heavier. I guess that’s the only book with four Chapter 11s.”

The episode would not be complete, of course, without even more left-wing virtue signaling.

The worst came in the form of a parody rap music video called “RBG” (a tribute to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg) — featuring Pete Davidson and Chris Redd.

The song’s hook was, “Live Ginsburg, and I ride for Ginsburg” and featured the line, “Don’t f*** with my Roe v. Wade.”

Hollywood has become more and more obsessed with the 85-year-old Ginsburg under the presidency of Trump.

A critically acclaimed documentary titled “RBG” was released over the summer, and a scripted biopic starring Felicity Jones and Armie Hammer is hitting theaters on Christmas of this year. The film is called “On the Basis of Sex.”
