Actress Jane Fonda sees “parallels” between President Donald Trump and Adolf Hitler.
“If you’ve read anything about the rise of the Third Reich and Adolf Hitler, you will see the parallels,” she said outrageously on Thursday in New York City at the Women’s Media Awards.
Also in attendance at the event — meant to celebrate women in the media — were people like Gloria Steinem and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.).
Fonda said voting “has never been more important” than in the upcoming midterms. She cited the president’s continued attacks on the media as proof of that.
The actress, who currently stars on Netflix’s “Grace and Frankie,” also said “civility” is under attack from the current administration — and “we don’t have to take it anymore. Voting is the way to stop it. Everybody has to vote.”
As if that weren’t all dramatic enough, the 80-year-old Fonda — the daughter of iconic actor Henry Fonda — also said democracy is “at stake” when it comes to the midterms.
She said she’s “never felt so strongly that our democracy was at stake.”
The actress also seemed to suggest that she would not be recognizing Brett Kavanaugh’s now-confirmed position with the Supreme Court as an associate justice.
“Even if the Supreme Court were to make terribly unfair rulings — if you remember, Martin Luther King said it’s our obligation to disobey unjust laws,” she said to The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re not going to obey them.”
Fonda has been one of many celebrities to get heavily involved in the midterm elections. She previously said the upcoming elections are the most important of her life and claimed it is hard for her to “breathe” with Donald Trump as America’s president.
She even says she has cut certain people out of her life because they support Trump.
On another occasion, Fonda said America is facing an existential crisis because of this president.
“I love them, but I can’t talk to them anymore. And I will fight to my last breath to stop what they are trying to do,” she said about conservative former friends of hers who live in Georgia.

“People always say, ‘Was it worse in the ’60s and ’70s?’ It was not! This is the worst! This is an existential crisis. And if we don’t do what needs to be done — in terms of making our voices heard, and our votes heard — that’s it! We don’t have time,” she said.
