James Woods is continuing to use his Twitter account for good.

The Academy Award-nominated actor tried to help a military veteran named Andrew McMasters who was threatening suicide on Monday.

In a now-deleted post, McMasters said he was going to commit suicide because he “lost everything” and didn’t “have anybody.”

Woods responded to the tweet by offering to have a private conversation with McMasters.

“Tell me where you are,” the 71-year-old actor tweeted urgently.

He then said, “We can talk. I don’t care what anybody thinks. Do you? Let’s have a conversation. Just you and I.”

Woods followed the man on Twitter in an attempt to have a private conversation with him (you can only direct-message people you follow and who follow you).

“I’m following you now, so you can DM [direct-message] me. We can talk privately. Or we can talk openly right here. Lot of people worried about you right now,” Woods tweeted to the man.

“So think about this,” he also wrote. “A lot of vets, I understand, have come to where you are tonight. If you could just push this decision off tonight, at least, maybe you would also inspire another vet to seek help. You could save another man, too. By waiting to do this.”

McMasters’ account was eventually deleted, but Woods still attempted to help the man.

“Andrew, don’t feel embarrassed that you reached out in the darkness. Nobody thinks you’re foolish for that. You know every one of us reaching out to you right now has some depression, too. I’ll say it. I do,” the actor said.

Woods later tried getting the police involved by sharing the specific tweet in which McMasters threatened suicide.

“Hello, @OrlandoPolice. A man named Andrew MacMasters just said on @Twitter that he is sitting in a parking lot and is going to kill himself. He’s sitting with his dog, a black lab, possibly in a WalMart parking lot. Can you do a #WelfareCheck? He is a Marine Vet,” tweeted Woods.

The police jumped into action thanks to Woods’ tweet.

“Okay. Just talked to Maitland Police. The dispatch supervisor there was terrific. He’s confident they will find him. I gave Billy, the dispatcher, Andrew’s home address and the info a reliable source DMed me. They are all over this,” he tweeted.

“Andrew wasn’t at his home address. @PoliceMaitland is getting assistance from neighboring agencies. They are really on this,” he said.

Woods followed up by saying, “If only Andrew could see the THOUSANDS of fellow Americans who are pulling for him. It’s like he’s lost behind enemy lines and we are cheering him home, willing him to survive. Andrew, do this for the ‘other 21’ vets a day who don’t make it home from the darkness. Stay alive!”

One Twitter user later reported that McMasters was home safe — to which Woods replied, “I’m hoping this is true. I think now he probably needs less focus on him from all of us, while his loved ones give him the solace he needs.”

“Thanks to all of you who worked to save a valuable life. My heart breaks for the other 21 vets and others who didn’t make it tonight.”

Fox News contributor Sara A. Carter indicated, however, that there are no official updates on the veteran from police.

“The Sergeant with the Maitland Police in Florida says it’s still active and they don’t have any updates. Once there is an update, they will release a statement. Hoping for the best …  a vet threatened suicide last night on Twitter. Later his post was taken down — praying 4 him,” she tweeted on Tuesday morning.

For the past few weeks, James Woods has been showing the entire world all of the good social media can do.

Aside from helping a struggling veteran, the actor also turned his account — which has nearly two million followers — into an emergency broadcast channel of sorts to help people during the California wildfires.

Woods helped connect family members searching for each other and earned praise from both conservatives and liberals.

Let’s pray the veteran who was struggling is OK — and that he is with those who love him and will care for him.

And thank goodness for James Woods.
