As former President Barack Obama continues to try to take a victory lap for all of his “successes” while in office, the reminders about his administration’s use of tear gas when dealing with those trying to gain entry to our country illegally continues to be waved over, denied, overlooked and otherwise dismissed by certain liberal commentators and personalities — people who would prefer not to dwell on that fact at all.

Not one bit, in fact.

During a segment of ABC’s “The View” on Wednesday, co-host Sunny Hostin practically worked herself into a tizzy when the others reminded her of what occurred a few short years ago under the Obama administration.

“The last I checked President Obama is no longer in office,” Hostin exclaimed.

She became clearly angry over the line of discussion.

“President Trump is in office!”

Let’s go back in time for a moment, shall we? In any discussion of the U.S. government’s current efforts to secure the border and keep American citizens as safe as possible, this is completely relevant.

Democrats and mainstream media members have been widely condemning President Donald Trump for the use of tear gas by American officials as caravan migrants have been attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.

Yet the officials who used tear gas roughly once a month against incoming migrants during the Obama administration years did not even come close to receiving this same type of mass outrage.

Data from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) show that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) deployed 2-chlorobenzylidene malononitrile (CS) tear gas on migrants since 2010, as The Washington Times reported.

The officials used the gas 26 times during fiscal year 2012 — and 27 times in 2013.

Although the use of tear gas declined sharply during Obama’s final years in office, it still was used three times in 2016.

The use of CS rose for fiscal year 2017, which both Obama and Trump split, and ultimately it was used 29 times during fiscal year 2018, The Washington Times noted.

Immigration enforcement officials also used pepper spray on migrants at the border, which reached a record high number of uses, with 151 under Obama in 2013.

Officials under Trump deployed pepper spray 43 times in fiscal year 2018.

Although it’s nothing new for border authorities to deploy tear gas on those individuals seeking illegal entry — some violently — the outcry during 2018 under Trump has been just about hysterical.

Thousands of migrants from Central America — most of whom are young, single men — have been heading this way for months and recently crossed into Mexico with the intention of crossing the border into the U.S.

And now many of the migrants who traveled with the caravan, by the way, are suffering from respiratory infections, tuberculosis, chickenpox and other serious health issues, Tijuana’s Health Department warned on Thursday morning, as Fox News reported.

The spokesman told Fox News that out of 6,000 migrants currently residing in the city, over a third of them (2,267) are being treated for health-related issues.

There are three confirmed cases of tuberculosis, four cases of HIV/AIDS and four separate cases of chickenpox, the spokesman said.

At least 101 migrants have lice and multiple instances of skin infections, the department’s data shows. There’s also a threat of hepatitis outbreak due to unsanitary conditions.

Speaking this week at Rice University in Houston, Texas, Obama said in part,  “You wouldn’t always know it, but it [oil production] went up every year I was president. That whole, suddenly America’s like the biggest oil producer and the biggest gas — that was me, people.”

Obama also mentioned the strong performance of the stock market during his presidency — and that critics who called him anti-business should just say “thank you” to him.
