A former adviser to the Clintons, Mark Penn, believes Hillary Clinton will make another run for the presidency — and that she’s got her sights set on 2020.
Penn co-wrote an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal along with Andrew Stein, a former Democratic Manhattan borough president and president of the New York City Council.
The duo’s piece was published on Sunday and detailed the new reasons the failed 2016 presidential candidate and former secretary of state may again be seeking the highest office in the land.
It largely has to do with revenge, it appears — and the notion that she’s not going to fade away with an F for “failure” next to her name if she can help it.
“True to her name, Mrs. Clinton will fight this out until the last dog dies,” the pair wrote.
“She won’t let a little thing like two stunning defeats stand in the way of her claim to the White House.”
As the pair wrote, in part, “Mrs. Clinton has a 75 percent approval rating among Democrats, an unfinished mission to be the first female president, and a personal grievance against Mr. Trump, whose supporters pilloried her with chants of ‘Lock her up!’ This must be avenged.”
“Expect Hillary 4.0 to come out swinging,” they also declared.
“She has decisively to win those Iowa caucus-goers who have never warmed up to her. They will see her now as strong, partisan, left-leaning and all-Democrat—the one with the guts, experience and steely-eyed determination to defeat Mr. Trump. She has had two years to go over what she did wrong and how to take him on again.”
Oh, but that was just for starters.
“Just as Mr. Trump cleared the field [before the 2016 election], Mrs. Clinton will take down rising Democratic stars like bowling pins,” they noted. “Mike Bloomberg will support her rather than run, and Joe Biden will never be able to take her on.”
“Don’t pay much attention to the ‘I won’t run’ declarations,” they also insisted.

“Mrs. Clinton knows both Mr. Clinton and Mr. Obama declared they weren’t running, until they ran. She may even skip Iowa and enter the race later, but rest assured that, one way or another, Hillary 4.0 is on the way.”
It was just a few weeks ago that Hillary Clinton declared in a televised TV inter view that even though she doesn’t want to run again for the White House, “I’d like to be president.”
She is 71 years old right now, by the way.
Her husband wasn’t seen much on the campaign trail for Democrats in the last months of the 2018 midterm campaign season.
The pair has committed to a 13-city tour this fall that they’re kicking off in Las Vegas on November 18.
“She has had two years to go over what she did wrong and how to take him on again.”
Live Nation Entertainment describes the events coming up as “joint on-stage conversations with the two leaders sharing stories and inspiring anecdotes that shaped their historic careers in public service, while also discussing issues of the day and looking toward the future.”
U.S. cities on the Clintons’ tour include Las Vegas; Sugar Land, Texas; New York City; Detroit; Philadelphia; Wallingford, Connecticut; Washington, D.C.; Boston; Seattle; and Los Angeles.
Canadian cities on their tour include Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
The timing of the tour launch certainly promises to deliver ready-made fodder for political discussion.
