Openly conservative artists can be a tough thing to find these days.

The entertainment industry — especially Hollywood — is extremely hostile to right-leaning views.

Those who speak out and go against the grain are often professionally threatened and openly mocked by their fellow artists.

Still, some stand strong and tall and refuse to bow to the leftist pressures of Hollywood.

This year we give thanks for some of the conservatives who are gaining ground in the culture wars — and helping to make Hollywood great again.

1.) James Woods. Academy Award nominee Woods (pictured above left) is one of the sharpest and funniest right-leaning thinkers on social media. He’s open and honest about his support for President Donald Trump and the political biases of Hollywood when tweeting to his nearly two million followers — and he’s never afraid to throw in a joke or two.

Beyond his politics and his willingness to stand for his beliefs in an industry that frowns on anything that’s not part of the extreme Left, Woods has shown that good can come from social media. He turned his Twitter account into an emergency broadcast system during the California wildfires and helped reunite family members and give out important information. He showed what a difference one individual with a platform can make during a crisis. The efforts earned him praise from both liberals and conservatives.

The actor also recently did his best to talk to and help a veteran who was threatening suicide on social media.

Woods is best known for such films as “Hercules,” “Videodrome” and “Casino.” His television work includes episodes on Showtime’s “Ray Donovan,” Fox’s “Family Guy” and his own short-lived drama, “Shark.”

2.) Joy Villa. This musician is always willing to make a splash. To award ceremonies, she’s worn a Make America Great Again dress and a dress depicting a baby fetus.

She also stands up for her beliefs through her music, especially in the single “Make America Great Again,” a song with a unifying message that plays on President Trump’s famous catchphrase.

Villa (above middle) is not boxed in or stereotyped, and she’s always willing to voice her opinion, even when it rubs people on both sides of the political aisle the wrong way.

She’s one of Trump’s biggest supporters — and she’s proof that a young right-leaning artist can find success today as long as that person stays loud and proud.

3.) Nick Searcy. He’s open about his politics, yet Searcy has managed to become something of a Hollywood legend over the years. He’s appeared in such classic films as “The Fugitive” and “Fried Green Tomatoes,” as well as in recent award favorites like “The Shape of Water” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

Searcy stepped behind the camera recently for the true crime film “Gosnell,” a movie about Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell, a man who was running a “house of horrors” abortion clinic. After performing incredibly late-term abortions, Gosnell was eventually charged with three counts of first degree murder.

The mainstream media largely ignored the story; Hollywood’s treatment of the film was no different. Independently financed through crowdfunding, “Gosnell” took years to find distribution. When it finally did get released, it faced roadblocks no left-leaning movie would ever encounter. Through it all, Searcy stood his ground and battled with any critic willing to mislabel his film in an attempt to derail its success and exposure.

Like Woods, Searcy can be found on Twitter, where he’s not only open about his political beliefs, but is willing to take on any critic looking for an argument. His wit usually wins the fight.

4.) Dean Cain. This former Superman stands firm on his beliefs, even when he’s confronted face-to-face, as he was recently, by anti-Trump actor Tom Arnold.

Cain (above right) always keeps his cool and debates with grace on social media. When others go low, he goes high — always showing a great respect for his fans and those who disagree with him.

Cain also appears in some films that are beloved by conservatives. The actor not only led this year’s “Gosnell,” he also had a big part in 2010’s faith-based hit, “God’s Not Dead.”

Cain occasionally appears on Fox News; he often interacts with fans on Twitter. Oh, and he became a reserve police officer this year — so there’s that.

5.) Andrew Klavan. He’s not only one of the sharpest conservative minds around, he’s also one of the most talented writers of his generation. Klavan’s novels have been turned into films, such as 1999’s “True Crime,” directed by and starring Clint Eastwood.

Klavan was one of the writers of this year’s “Gosnell” — and he creates content for The Daily Wire. He’ll often give leftists a lesson in satire.

He may not be invited to any Stephen King parties any time soon, but conservatives should be grateful this talented writer and knowledgable mind is willing to stand up for his beliefs in an industry that is known for punishing people on the Right who do just that.
