The pairing of action star Mark Wahlberg (“Mile 22,” “Lone Survivor”) and goofball performer Will Ferrell (“Step Brothers,” “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”) for 2010’s “The Other Guys” was certainly odd — but it also paid off in a big way.

The film earned over $170 million worldwide.

The two actors joined forces again for 2015’s “Daddy’s Home,” a movie that comically pitted bad boy father (Wahlberg) against nerdy stepfather (Ferrell).

Once again, the pairing paid off.

The film made over $240 million worldwide.

Daddys-Home

Wahlberg (pictured above right) and Ferrell (above left) teamed up once more for the sequel to “Daddy’s Home,” released last year, which earned over $180 million worldwide.

The sequel introduced Mel Gibson (“Lethal Weapon,” “The Road Warrior”) and John Lithgow (“Interstellar,” “Cliffhanger”) as opposite grandfathers.

Wahlberg is now continuing his comedic run — without Ferrell this time — with “Instant Family,” a comedy about a couple who get in over their heads when they adopt three children.

Wahlberg has partnered with director Sean Anders (both “Daddy’s Home” movies, “Horrible Bosses 2,” “That’s My Boy”) for the new comedy, which hits theaters this Friday.

“Family” has a good chance of being successful this weekend, but the project that many people want to know about from Anders and Wahlberg is a potential “Daddy’s Home 3.”

LifeZette spoke with director Anders, who is originally from Wisconsin, about the possibility of a third “Daddy’s Home” movie. The filmmaker said it’s a possibility — but maybe not for a long while.

“I get that question a lot,” Anders said when asked about another “Daddy’s Home” movie.

He revealed he actually has an idea for another adventure in the franchise.

“I really like the idea of 20 years from now and Mark [Wahlberg] and Will [Ferrell] are old men. We get them together like the way they did [with] ‘Grumpy Old Men,’ and we do ‘Daddy’s Home 3,’ where little Megan [the Wahlberg character’s daughter and Ferrell’s character’s stepdaughter] is getting married or something. I think that would be a really fun thing to do deep into the future,” said Anders.

“Grumpy Old Men,” released in 1993, re-teamed the comedic performers Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon nearly 30 years after the classic “The Odd Couple.”

Anders jokingly added of his idea for a very down-the-line “Daddy’s Home 3,” “We’ll see if Mark is still getting up at three a.m. and [is] still ripped.”

“Instant Family” is in theaters today — Friday, November 16.
