When leftist celebrities like Jane Fonda and Judd Apatow are taking part in a “nonpartisan” event meant to encourage people to vote, you can bet the event is actually pretty partisan.

Celebrities like Fonda (pictured above right), Apatow (above center), Amy Schumer (above left), Tom Arnold, and others all took part in a telethon event on Monday night meant to motivate people to vote in the midterm elections.

The event was dubbed “The Telethon for America” and was available as a livestream through YouTube, Comedy Central Original and Facebook Live.

The celeb telethon seemed to at least get people excited on some level.

A handful of people who received calls from the various celebrities taking part in the event jumped to social media to share their excitement and experiences.

“Okay update: talked with @missjudygreer thanks to @WhenWeAllVote telethon and I’m living right now. This is amazing. #WhenWeAllVote #TelethonForAmerica,” wrote one Twitter user, revealing he’d spoken to “Ant-Man” and “Kidding” actress Judy Greer.

Another user revealed she spoke to director Kevin Smith (“Clerks,” “Chasing Amy”), who is typically not open about his political beliefs.

“So as part of the #TelethonForAmerica I got a call from freaking Silent Bob!!! Tried to stay relatively calm and not get too awkward while on the phone with @ThatKevinSmith but I’m pretty sure I was still hella awkward. Go vote pals, get democracy back on track please,” wrote the user.

Smith actually responded by saying, “You weren’t awkward, you were awesome! Thanks for taking my call! #TelethonForAmerica is happening NOW and I’m about to be on it! Tune in at @YouTube!”

Yet another said, “Update: just chatted with @DebraMessing about my plans for tomorrow. #TelethonForAmerica.”

The user had spoken to “Will & Grace” actress Debra Messing, an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump and conservatives.

If this event really was meant to be nonpartisan, then why not invite some Hollywood conservatives like James Woods, Dean Cain or Joy Villa? Wouldn’t that send a positive message to the country to have conservatives and liberals standing shoulder to shoulder on television, defending each other’s right to vote?

When you instead simply gather dozens of celebrities known more for their misogynistic bullying and lame Hitler comparisons, you have an event that seems like it’s more about pushing people to vote one way, instead of encouraging them to vote any way.

Leftists are now pulling out the last trick they have in the final stretch before voting — celebrity power.

However, they’d be smart to remember Hillary Clinton’s run for president in 2016. People may have been excited by the famous faces next to her — but the star power did nothing for her when it came to the actual race.
