Bruce Springsteen is no fan of President Donald Trump.

Springsteen had previously declared that the country is in the midst of a fight for the “soul of our nation” under the current president.

He also endorsed and campaigned for Democrat Hillary Clinton when she was running against Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

In a recent interview with Esquire, the popular liberal rocker added that Trump “has no interest in uniting the country.”

He also said the president “actually has an interest in doing the opposite and dividing us, which he does on an almost daily basis.”

Springsteen continued along these lines, “That’s simply a crime against humanity, as far as I’m concerned. It’s an awful, awful message to send out into the world if you’re in that job and in that position. It’s just an ugly, awful message.”

“You are intentionally trying to disenfranchise a large portion of Americans. I mean, you are simply … that’s unforgivable.”

The “Dancing in the Dark” and “I’m on Fire” singer went on to say that President Trump is using the “alt-right” and racists to his advantage and therefore giving more merit to extreme causes.

“So these are folks who are invested in denying the idea of a united America and an America for all. It’s a critical moment. This has come so far to the surface, and it’s so toxic,” he said. “And it appears to have a grip … and to be so powerful … in a lot of people’s lives at the moment.”

“It’s a scary moment for any conscientious American, I think,” he said.

The 69-year-old Springsteen added that he sees a lot of “fear” in the country and that fear, he theorized, is because the “face of the nation” is changing so rapidly.

“There seems to be an awful lot of fear,” the rocker declared. “The Founding Fathers were pretty good at confronting their fears and the fears of the country. And it’s the old cliché where geniuses built the system so an idiot could run it. We are completely testing that theory at this very moment. I do believe we’ll survive Trump. But I don’t know if I see a unifying figure on the horizon.”

Springsteen has won more than 20 Grammy Awards and has been nominated dozens of other times for his music.

The New Jersey-born rock star is best known for hits like “Streets of Philadelphia,” “I’m on Fire,” “Dancing in the Dark,” and “Born in the U.S.A.”
