President Donald Trump warned a boisterous crowd of Pennsylvania supporters at the Make America Great Again (MAGA) rally in Erie Wednesday night that “the radical Democrat mob” has become “the party of crime.”

As if to illustrate what Trump was warning about, earlier in the day former Attorney General Eric Holder told a group of cheering Democrat campaign activists that the time for civility in politics is past.

“It is time for us as Democrats to be as tough as they are, to be as dedicated as they are, to be as committed as they are … Michelle [Obama] always says ‘When they go low, we go high,” Holder said. “No. No … When they go low, we kick ’em.”

And earlier this week, Trump’s Democratic opponent in the 2016 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton, said in a CNN interview that “you cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.”

Civility would return only if Democrats regain the majority in the House and/or the Senate in November, according to Clinton.

The remarks by Clinton and Holder, who is contemplating a run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, seem to give the green light to their party’s radical base to continue and expand the confrontational tactics that saw protesters disrupt Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings.

The disruptions included confronting and cursing at senators in elevators, harassing and forcing them to leave public restaurants, and besieging those supporting Kavanaugh in the halls of Senate office buildings with chants of “Shame, Shame.”

The mob actions reached a crescendo late Saturday as an estimated 200 wailing and yelling protesters crowded against the tall bronze doors to the Supreme Court building pounding on them and futilely trying to force them open.

But Trump, as he did in backing Kavanaugh, wasn’t backing down Wednesday night in Erie, either.

“If Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats take over Congress, they will try to raise your taxes — but we’ve lowered them tremendously — impose socialism, which is where they’re coming from, and take over and destroy American health care,” Trump said.

“Democrats want to abolish America’s borders and allow drugs and gangs to pour into our country unabated.”

Trump contrasted the Democrats with Republicans, who, he said, “are the party of law and order and justice, and we are also the party of jobs, jobs, jobs … After years of rebuilding other nations, we are finally rebuilding our nation.”

The president hit hard at Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.), who is battling Rep. Lou Barletta (R-Pa.) for a third six-year term in the Senate. Casey is known as a moderate Democrat, but Trump laid into him Wednesday as a tool of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

“He will do whatever Schumer, Pelosi, and the new star of the Democrat Party tells him to do,” Trump said, referring to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.). Waters has been encouraging Democratic activists for weeks to harass Trump supporters in government and among voters.

“While Lou is fighting for you, Bob Casey is fighting to protect violent criminal aliens,” Trump continued. “Bob Casey voted in favor of deadly sanctuary cities that release thousands upon thousands of illegal alien criminals and vicious gang members to prey on Pennsylvania’s streets. No good.”

After the rally, Trump tweeted twice to thank attendees at the rally and remind them to get out to vote on November 6.
