A 25-year-old woman whom authorities suspect is an illegal immigrant crashed her car on a South Carolina interstate last Friday, injuring the four children riding with her, according to The Herald.

South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers charged Teresa Antonia Caceras-Rivera (shown above left) with driving under the influence (DUI), child endangerment, and driving without a license, the outlet reported.

The four children injured in the wreck, whose relationship to Caceras-Rivera is unknown, were transported from the crash site on northbound Interstate 77 to Piedmont Medical Center, The Herald noted.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are holding Caceras-Rivera without bond in York County jail — suggesting the woman is a foreign national subject to removal from the country, the outlet added.

On Monday morning President Donald Trump bluntly warned of the dangers represented by the growing caravan traveling north through Mexico on its way to the U.S. border, with the intent of many, apparently, to enter our country illegally.

The president was clear in his comments.

He indicated in the tweet that “criminals” and “unknown Middle Easterners” are among the group.

The group is reportedly largely made up of young men from Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador who do not qualify for asylum.

There are also said to be some women and young children.

Though not all illegal immigrants commit crimes here (aside from their illegal entry into the country) — that is probably of little comfort to the children injured last week by a woman who never should have been in this country in the first place.

She should not have been driving on the interstate and she should not have been driving drunk, especially while transporting children.

Certainly, crime by illegal immigrants against American citizens has been well documented: Think of the death of young Iowan college student Mollie Tibbetts this year, just for starters.

Recent estimates suggest the size of the caravan approaching the southern border has ballooned to 7,000 people, despite Trump’s promise to cut off or substantially reduce aid to Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador — countries that failed to stop the group.

In addition to the estimated 7,000-person-strong lead caravan, a second caravan of about 1,000 more people are working their way up from Honduras to join the larger group, Fox News reported.

President Trump said last Thursday he potentially would call up the military to close our southern border.

On Monday, he called the caravan’s approach a national emergency.

How many Teresa Antonia Caceras-Riveras are among the caravan group?

How many is too many?
