In a stunning indication of how low some will go to excoriate Justice Brett Kavanaugh (pictured above right) in the wake of his confirmation to the Supreme Court, a social media post on Saturday from a writer for CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” (Colbert is at left) seemed to celebrate the pain points of the bitter partisan confirmation battle.

“Whatever happens, I’m just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh’s life,” the show writer, Ariel Dumas, glibly posted on Twitter.

Dumas later briefly made her account private, reported Fox News.

Her tweet came as the Senate confirmed Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court by a 50-48 vote on Saturday.

He was then sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts and will take part in a ceremonial swearing-in ceremony on Monday night at the White House.

Dumas said Sunday that she was being “sarcastic” in her tweet because Kavanaugh’s elevation to the Supreme Court demonstrated that his life had not been ruined by the accusations — and offered what she may feel passes for an apology.

“The last couple of weeks have been hard for the country and for me personally,” Dumas wrote.

“The complexity of frustration, anger and sadness can’t be accurately conveyed on Twitter, and I regret my tone-deaf attempt at sarcasm in the wake of it.”

Reached for further comment by Fox News, CBS said the Dumas apology spoke for itself and confirmed her employment with the Colbert show.

Dumas’ account included several other anti-Kavanaugh tweets.

“Brett Kavanaugh is 100% gonna ask Justice Sotomayor to fetch him coffee,” she tweeted out Saturday.

The writer “also criticized Kavanaugh for invoking his family in a Wall Street Journal op-ed,” noted Fox News.

The CBS employee opined that “it is not automatically a moral achievement to be a son, a husband, a dad. It is biology, a legal decision, and biology again. Plenty of a**holes are all three.”

Colbert, a liberal anti-Trumper, targeted the Senate Judiciary Committee in his late-night show recently, riffing, “OK, but have you seen who’s on the Senate Judiciary Committee? I wouldn’t trust these geezers to investigate a restaurant menu.”

“Sir, you’re speaking into a mailbox,” added Colbert.

He continued, “I would like a scoop of chicken salad served in half a cantaloupe,” he said, mocking the age of the members of the committee. “Sir, you’re speaking into a mailbox.”

Prior to Senate Judiciary Committee testimony by both sexual assault accuser Christine Blasey Ford and then-nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Colbert also said, “Obviously, the U.S. Senate’s known for two things: moving at lightning speed and not caring what abused women have to say about Supreme Court nominees.”
