Stephen Colbert Compares Donald Trump to the Ku Klux Klan

At a recent rally in support of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), President Donald Trump referred to himself as a nationalist.

“You know, they have a word — it sort of became old-fashioned. It’s called a ‘nationalist.’ And I say, really? We’re not supposed to use that word? You know what I am? I’m a nationalist,” he said.

One person to take issue with Trump’s proclamation of caring about his country is late-night host Stephen Colbert. He even compared the president to the Ku Klux Klan on his show Tuesday night.

“You know why you’re not supposed to use that word? Because it’s the second half of ‘white nationalist,’” the leftist comedian said. “Chopping off the first word doesn’t change what it means in our minds! Oh look, I’m a Klux Klan. I have no idea which one! Don’t judge me! There are all kinds of Klux Klans!”

Colbert also took issue with another part of Trump’s speech, when he went after globalists.

“You know what a globalist is, right? You know what a globalist is? A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly, not caring about our country so much. And you know what? We can’t have that,” the president said.

“He does realize that America is on the globe, right?” responded Colbert. “Look, I’m gonna shoot you straight: Who cares about global warming? Wake me up when it’s America warming.”

The liberal comedian later said the president was spreading “bulls***.”

Leftist celebrities are kicking their rhetoric into high gear with the midterms right around the corner.

Filmmaker Judd Apatow (“Knocked Up,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin”) recently said Trump is “kidnapping children” and “supporting murderers.”

Actress Jane Fonda (“Grace and Frankie”) said the upcoming midterms are the most important elections of her life — and she revealed it’s hard for her to “breathe” in an America in which Donald Trump is president.

Actress and musician Bette Midler (“Hocus Pocus”) also called Trump a “murderer” this week.

Horror author Stephen King (“The Gunslinger,” “It,” “Pet Sematary”) went after Trump for his stance on illegal immigration and suggested people who want to come to America through illegal means are simply “a bunch of scared and hungry people.”

Musician and actress Lady Gaga — who currently stars in “A Star Is Born” — took issue with potential changes coming from the government on the definition of gender.

She took to Twitter to say President Donald Trump is “driven by ignorance.”
