At his rally in Houston on Monday night, President Donald Trump joked about how to jump-start a thorough investigation of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Dogged by multiple scandals, such as the use of a private email server for government business, Clinton still has dodged consequential investigation by either the government or the mainstream media.

So Trump laughingly suggested the only way to convince the media to investigate Hillary Clinton would be for him to nominate her to the Supreme Court.

The president was referring to the bitter process Justice Brett Kavanaugh went through in the media during his confirmation, during which the media published multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him even without any corroboration.

Trump was in Houston rallying on behalf of Sen. Ted Cruz, who is facing off against Democratic challenger Rep. Beto O’Rourke. Although once close in the polls, Cruz has since pulled ahead of O’Rourke, several weeks before the crucial midterms.

“If you want the fake news media to finally investigate — by the way, by the way,” the president said, pausing for a chant of “CNN sucks” from the crowd. “Don’t worry, I don’t like them either, OK,” he told them, as The Daily Caller also noted.

“But look at this. Look. Just look. Here we are,” he said, pointing to the back of Houston’s Toyota Center. “We are doing a rally for Ted [Cruz], and it’s great, we have a lot of people.”

Then the president took a shot at Hollywood: “We have a lot of people. Look how many media — this is like the Academy Awards, which actually has gone down the tubes. I think we do much better. Look how many. Look at them.”

He called out the media. “Do you recognize many of those happy faces back there?” he asked the crowd. “I know every one of them. I know every one of them, and 15 percent of ‘em are great,” he said. “Every one of them. I know every one,” he continued.

“But if you want the fake news to finally investigate Hillary Clinton, we’ll just have”— and he was cut off by the wild crowd.

“Man!” Trump exclaimed.

“I didn’t do it. I didn’t do it,” he said, seemingly telling the media it was the crowd who was speaking out with their chants. “I didn’t do it! So if you want them to investigate — we will just have to nominate Hillary Clinton to the United States Supreme Court. How do you like that idea?”

The president then said, “Let’s see how she does! If Judge Kavanaugh had to go through what he went through … He is a fine man. Can you imagine Hillary up there? That would take three to four years of questions.”

Few in the media, or anywhere, for that matter, give Trump credit for his sense of humor — and this was just one more example of it.
