President Donald Trump’s administration has made extraordinary gains in the fight against ISIS, yet the three major broadcast news networks “buried” the progress in their evening coverage, which was overwhelming biased against the chief executive, according to a study released Tuesday by the Media Research Center (MRC).

“One of the Trump administration’s major accomplishments since taking office has been the virtual destruction of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, including the capture of the terror group’s capital city of Raqqa in Syria,” MRC research analyst Bill D’Agostino wrote in his report.

“Under Trump, U.S.-backed coalition forces have regained nearly all of the territory that the self-ordained caliphate occupied in 2015. Yet on network evening broadcasts, the president and his administration have received virtually no credit for this achievement,” D’Agostino added.

Trump campaigned heavily during the 2016 presidential election on combating global terrorism, promising to bolster the U.S. military and “bomb the hell out of ISIS.”

“Last year, I also pledged that we would work with our allies to extinguish ISIS from the face of the earth,” Trump said during his State of the Union Address in January. “One year later, I am proud to report that the coalition to defeat ISIS has liberated almost 100 percent of the territory once held by these killers in Iraq and Syria.”

“But there is much more work to be done. We will continue our fight until ISIS is defeated,” Trump insisted.

PolitiFact noted at the time that ISIS suffered a 93 percent reduction in territory since January 2015, including an 89 percent decrease in territory since Trump took office in January 2017.

But ABC, CBS and NBC evening news shows spared only 33 minutes of coverage since Trump’s Inauguration Day — which amounts to 0.33 percent of their more than 10,000 total minutes of Trump administration coverage — on reporting the significant gains the administration made in its fight against ISIS.

MRC analysts also found that the three networks spent only 157 minutes during that period covering the war on terrorism at all, regardless of whether they mentioned Trump and his administration. But ABC, CBS and NBC evening shows felt no qualms about lavishing special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russian collusion probe with 33 hours of coverage.

This sort of coverage from mainstream media networks is nothing new.

Just a couple weeks ago, Rich Noyes, senior editor for MRC’s NewsBusters, analyzed an MRC study showing that Trump and his administration received 92 percent negative coverage on the three networks’ evening news shows from June 1 to September 30.

The American economy is booming, but ABC, CBS and NBC viewers might not have known that because the three broadcast networks spent less than 1 percent of their evening news coverage during that four-month period focusing on the Trump administration’s accomplishments, such as record-low unemployment and rapid jobs growth.

The Trump administration earned an average of 90 percent negative coverage during its first year in office across the several studies MRC did in 2017. And an MRC study released in May found similar results, with 91 percent negative coverage.

Trump has long railed against the “Fake News” media for their overwhelmingly negative coverage of himself and his administration, chiding them for their failures to emphasize his significant accomplishments.

“So many positive things going on for the U.S.A. and the Fake News Media just doesn’t want to go there. Same negative stories over and over again! No wonder the People no longer trust the media, whose approval ratings are correctly at their lowest levels in history! #MAGA,” Trump tweeted in February.
