Democrats’ “tricks” — such as tax hikes, “empty racism charges” and “the vision of an open border” — simply cannot compare to President Donald Trump’s “treats” less than one week from the midterm elections, Fox News host Laura Ingraham said on Halloween night on “The Ingraham Angle.”

Democratic stars like Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas, Georgia gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum are neck-and-neck with their GOP rivals five days away from the November 6 midterm elections.

Gillum (pictured above right) is running against Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) for Florida’s governorship and Abrams (above center) is facing off against Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp (R) for the governorship.

O’Rourke (above left) faces more of an uphill battle against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in an unexpectedly tight Senate race.

“Democrats are putting all their candy in a new basket of candidates this Halloween, and the result for Americans can be downright nauseating,” Ingraham warned. “But now compare all those Democratic tricks — the tax hikes, the empty racism charges, the vision of an open border, abolishing ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement), all that stuff — to Trump’s treats.”

Wages and salaries rose 3.1 percent in the third quarter — “the biggest increase in a decade” — while the GDP expanded by a 3.5 percent annual rate, exceeding the 3.4 expectation. African-American and Hispanic unemployment also are at historic lows, Ingraham noted.

And Trump “is taking real steps” to secure the U.S.-Mexico border by sending more than 5,000 troops “to protect our sovereignty” as the latest Central American migrant caravan heads toward the U.S. through Mexico, Ingraham said.

“You’ll note the Democrats don’t really offer any cogent argument or response — alternative — to the Trump record because they expect to win via a sustained campaign of anti-Trump anger and race-baiting,” Ingraham said. “But like all the Halloween candy, none of that’s going to satisfy or sustain the country. It’ll just give you a really bad aftertaste in your mouth.”

American Conservative Union (ACU) Chairman Matt Schlapp told Ingraham he’s worried what will happen if the so-called blue wave doesn’t really happen following the midterms — even though he adamantly hopes Republicans can maintain majorities in both the House and the Senate.

Although the Senate appears to be a given, the House is leaning more toward a Democratic takeover, according to the polls.

“You can’t have a blue wave when the Republicans pick up Senate seats, and I think it’s almost impossible for them not to pick up Senate seats,” Schlapp said. “They’re certainly not going to lose the majority. So there’s no wave. The question is do the Democrats get back the House?”

“What I fear — I hope for the country’s sake the Republicans hold onto the House, which is by the way very much in play,” Schlapp added. “But what happens if these Democrats who have been told that there is this huge wave coming by almost everybody in the media — and what if it doesn’t really happen?”

Schlapp said he feared “the people who follow this hateful rhetoric” will become “unglued” if they don’t witness the blue wave they were promised.

“And I don’t think that’s so great for the country,” Schlapp said.

Former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, now a conservative commentator who lives in Florida, told Ingraham that Gillum’s progressive policies, in particular, are “not playing well at all” in Florida. Bongino insisted he has “not seen Republicans as fired up about beating a candidate as I have for them about defeating Gillum.”

“It has everything to do with his policies. Now the Left … wants to make this about race. That’s absurd. It’s outrageous,” Bongino said, noting that Gillum is black. “People in Florida move here, Laura, for a very distinct reason … People move here from the northeast to escape the taxes and big government — not to re-elect big taxes and big government in the form of big government Andrew Gillum down here in Florida.”

Ingraham imitated Gillum’s rhetoric, saying, ‘”Everything’s free. No one has to pay anything.'”

“Now I can’t imagine that this is what Florida voters really want — higher taxes, more spending and more regulations that will end up choking their state’s now thriving economy,” Ingraham said.
