Musician and actress Lady Gaga is not happy with President Donald Trump right now.

With the potential for the government to soon officially define gender based on people’s genitalia at birth — meaning only male or female, which may end up restricting benefits such as health care for those who define themselves by a different gender from how they were born — Gaga took to Twitter to express outrage over what she perceives as the president’s stance on transgender people.

“The government may be living in an alternate universe, but we as a society & culture know who we are and know our truth and must stick together and raise our voices so we can educate them about gender identities,” the “A Star Is Born” actress tweeted on Tuesday. She added the hashtags “#TransRightsAreHumanRights” and “#WontBeErased.”

She later added, “While today you might feel unheard or unseen, know that this is not the reality of humanity. This is another display of leadership being driven by ignorance.” She added the same hashtags to that tweet.

It was recently reported that the Department of Health and Human Services could be rolling back former President Barack Obama’s loose definition of gender and soon recognize only two genders based on people’s biology at birth.

If the definition of gender is tightened, as rumors suggest, then many policies could be affected, and discrimination against people who identify as “transgender” could end up getting lower priority.

Asked by the press on Monday about potential changes coming, President Trump responded, “We have a lot of different concepts right now. They have a lot of different things happening with respect to transgender right now.”

Asked then about his campaign being friendlier to the LGBTQ community than past Republicans and his promise to protect those communities, he answered, “I’m protecting everybody. I want to protect our country.”

Lady Gaga, 32, is best known for hit songs such as “Born This Way” and “Paparazzi.” She currently stars in the film “A Star Is Born,” which was directed by — and stars — “American Sniper” actor Bradley Cooper.

The film has over $120 million domestically on a production budget of just $36 million.

Lady Gaga has received rave reviews for her performance in the movie, and she is currently a front-runner to be nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award, so expect to hear plenty more about politics from her in the coming months.
