Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel urged Texas voters on Monday night to throw their support behind Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Beto O’Rourke over incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz.

His reasoning?

He thinks it would be funny if Cruz lost.

“Imagine how hilarious it will be if Ted Cruz is forced to kiss his bully’s a** in front of the world and then loses anyway,” Kimmel (shown above center) joked.

He was referring to a Monday night rally in Texas in which Cruz appeared with President Donald Trump, a man he ran against in the 2016 presidential race.

At one point during that race, of course, Trump dubbed Cruz “Lyin’ Ted” in the heated contest. The two made it clear on Monday they have no bad blood now. Trump even called Cruz a “really good friend.”

Trump also told the press his new nickname for Cruz is “Beautiful Ted.”

The president gave Beto O’Rourke the nickname “Overrated O’Rourke.”

“Cruz had to asked his former archenemy, Donald Trump, for a boost,” Kimmel said of Cruz’s ability to be at the rally with Trump in Texas.

The comedian said people should support “Overrated O’Rourke” for “comedy’s sake.”

The liberal late-nighter said Cruz’s request for Trump’s help in the Senate race — the actual vote is only weeks away — must have been the “saddest call” he “ever had to make.”

“And the president did lend a tiny hand at a rally for Cruz in Houston tonight, which had to be the saddest call Ted Cruz ever had to make,” the late-night host joked.

“Imagine if your neighbor insulted your wife’s face, and then you had to ask him to loan you a weed whacker. That’s like Ted Cruz’s life right now,” Kimmel continued. “It’s like the devil making a deal with the devil.”

“Nobody has helped me more with your tax cuts, with your regulation, with all the things that we’re doing, including military and our vets, than Sen. Ted Cruz.”

Despite Kimmel’s words played for cheap laughs, O’Rourke is seriously struggling in the Senate race against Cruz. He is behind in the polls even though he’s raised a huge $38 million for his campaign.

“You know, we had our little difficulties,” Trump said at the Monday night rally with Cruz at the Toyota Center in Texas. “But actually, if you remember, at the beginning, it was a love fest.”

The president continued, “I’ll tell you what, nobody has helped me more with your tax cuts, with your regulation, with all the things that we’re doing, including military and our vets, than Sen. Ted Cruz.”
