The final vote by the United States Senate over the nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court takes place on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2018.

The vote will likely occur sometime between 3:30 and 5 p.m. today; the ceremonial swearing in of Judge Kavanaugh then would likely take place on Monday or Tuesday, according to reporting Saturday morning by Fox News.

President Donald Trump nominated Kavanaugh to the nation’s highest court on July 9.

Meanwhile, after Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) made an impassioned and convincing speech on Friday on the Senate floor, laying out her reasoned analysis for why she would be casting a “yes” vote for Kavanaugh’s nomination, activists targeted her — with some even calling her a “rape apologist” after Kavanaugh gathered enough votes to get confirmed on Saturday.

Kat Calvin, founder of the anti-voter ID group Spread the Vote — which claims to be nonpartisan — has urged people to “publicly harass Collins over her voting decision,” as Fox News reported. “Never let Collins have a moment of peace in public again,” this individual wrote.

Sen. Collins, a moderate Republican, also criticized the highly politicized confirmation process. Her remarkable speech is worth reading in its entirety.
