President Donald Trump offered up praise for one of his most outspoken supporters, Kanye West, while being interviewed on “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning.

“I like [Kanye] a lot … He’s a very different kind of a guy, and I say that in a positive way. Those in the music business say he’s a genius and that’s OK with me,” Trump said in a call to Fox News about the rapper.

He also noted that his poll numbers went up after West first decided to publicly support him.

Kanye West is set to meet with the president at the White House on Thursday afternoon.

The rapper recently made waves for wearing a Make America Great Again hat on the leftist show “Saturday Night Live.” He was asked to remove the hat before appearing on camera, according to West.

Trump also had positive things to say about West’s wife, Kim Kardashian.

Kardashian met with the president earlier this year about the case of Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old woman who had been serving a life sentence for a nonviolent drug crime.

After their meeting, the president granted clemency to Johnson.

Trump called Kardashian “terrific” and said that it is admirable that she and her husband both want to work so hard on prison reform.

The president also spoke about NFL Hall of Famer Jim Brown, another one of his celebrity supporters.

“I should be criticizing Trump on every level because he does certain things that call for criticism,” Brown, 82, recently said about the president in an interview with Fox Sports Radio’s “JT the Brick Show.”

“But when I look at television I see all these announcers become experts, and they’re pointing the fingers, and they’re not doing a doggone thing but pointing their fingers, I find myself really pulling for the president.”

The legendary athlete continued, “Now, that would make me very unpopular in the black community, very unpopular with a lot of Americans, but I think that there are certain good things that are coming out of this presidency because we’ve never seen anything like it.”

Trump said Brown “gets it” and then said things like prison reform are needed, especially when it comes to helping black communities.

“We’re gonna make certain categories tougher when it comes to drug dealing and other things. There has to be a reform. It’s very unfair to African-Americans, it’s very unfair to everybody, and it’s also very costly,” the president said.
