Dave Chappelle Shows Support for Kanye West’s Trump Meeting

Rapper Kanye West has received plenty of criticism for his recent meeting at the White House with President Donald Trump, but at least one fellow artist is speaking up in support of him.

“First of all, you know, Kanye’s an artist, man. He’s a genius,” comedian Dave Chappelle said in a recent interview with CNN’s Van Jones.

“I think the angle he’s seeing things from is about the division that he sees. And he’s not inconsistent with what he’s saying.”

Chappelle, who currently stars in the box-office hit “A Star Is Born,” continued, “I’m not mad at Kanye. That’s my brother — I love him, I support him, but, you know, I don’t have to agree with everything that he says. I just trust him as a person of intent.”

CNN has actually run into a cloud of controversy recently due to its coverage of Kanye West’s support for the president of the United States.

Host Don Lemon led a segment covering West’s visit to the White House — and actually laughed when multiple guests referred to West as mentally ill and a “Negro” for daring to have right-leaning views.

NFL legend Herschel Walker has publicly called for Lemon’s firing from the network, and Candace Owens, a conservative commentator and director of communications for Turning Point USA, called the segment “racist” and “despicable” in an interview Wednesday night on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

During West’s visit to the White House with Trump, the rapper spoke about mental health treatment, political bias within the entertainment industry, the violence that’s been occurring in Chicago, and prison reform.

“He can speak for me anytime he wants — he’s a smart cookie. He gets it,” Trump said about the rapper.

The president also said that West could make a good candidate for president in the future, something the rapper has said in the past that he is interested in pursuing.

“Not until 2024,” West added to that thought, suggesting he supports President Trump enough to endorse him for re-election.

The reaction to West’s support of Trump has been telling about leftists in a big way.

Unable to confine the musical artist to a stereotype, they have taken to going after him with petty and offensive insults. So it’s good to see someone like Dave Chappelle cutting through that nonsense.
