A CNN panel erupted into chaos on Thursday when former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) (pictured above right) called “bull****” as he and “New Day” co-anchor Alisyn Camerota (above center) debated Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s “credibility” amid last-minute sexual assault allegations.

“This isn’t about drinking in college. I mean, if the story is about, ‘Did somebody get drunk in college?’ or ‘drink too much in college,’ then we probably would not have anybody on the Supreme Court,” Santorum began.

Camerota replied, “Fair enough. It’s about credibility and whether or not [Kavanaugh] told the truth” when he testified before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary last week.

“He said he drank to excess. He said he didn’t black out. Jamie Roche doesn’t know whether Brett Kavanaugh blacked out. No one knows,” Santorum said.

Roche, who roomed with Kavanaugh during his freshman year at Yale, penned an op-ed in Slate that ran on Wednesday in which he claimed the Supreme Court nominee lied under oath about the severity of his drinking habits.

“His willingness to lie to avoid embarrassment throws doubt on his denials about the larger questions of sexual assault,” Roche wrote.

Roche also told CNN on Wednesday that “being in the same room where he slept, I saw him when he arrived at home regularly, and I saw him in the morning. And I can tell you that he would come home and he was incoherent, stumbling.”

“And you remember that from 35 years ago? Sorry, bull****. I’m just saying it. It’s ridiculous.”

“He would throw up … I saw him both what I would consider blackout drunk and also dealing with the repercussions of that in the morning,” Roche claimed.

Camerota insisted that Roche would know if Kavanaugh had “memory lapses,” as Santorum tried to jump back in and dispute the allegation.

“Hold on. Hold on, Rick … You know if your roommate has memory lapses,” Camerota said.

An incredulous Santorum replied, “And you remember that from 35 years ago? Sorry, bull****. I’m just saying it. It’s ridiculous.”

“You think that you don’t remember if your friends had memory lapses?” Camerota pressed further.

Santorum replied, “No, I don’t. Absolutely not.”

The panel’s exchange continued to heat up as “New Day” co-anchor John Berman (above left) weighed in as well.

“The issue is whether he sexually assaulted somebody, and obviously that claim is going nowhere. Why? Because they have not found anyone present at the scene that said they can corroborate that. Somebody said they may have heard something. That’s not corroborating. That’s just hearsay,” Santorum insisted.

But Berman said, “It isn’t just the drinking, senator … The reason his credibility matters here, in addition to the fact this guy could sit on the court for 40 years and pass judgments on all sorts of things, you have to wonder if he is going to lie about those things, is he lying about other things?”

Santorum maintained that “Jamie Roche doesn’t know whether Brett Kavanaugh blacked out.”

Further chaos descended as Camerota said, “Hold on, hold on, Rick.”

Berman talked over Santorum’s response, saying, “Hang on! Hang on one second! No, no, no.”

“Let me finish,” Santorum demanded.

The former senator also blasted Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) for concealing the accusations she received in late July from Kavanaugh’s first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.

Ford claimed Kavanaugh assaulted her 36 years ago during a high school gathering in Maryland.

“Betraying the trust of Dr. Ford — it was horrendous what [Democrats] did to her. It’s horrendous what they did to Judge Kavanaugh, and that’s not the Republicans’ fault … This is 100 percent on the Democrats and the way they played this, to delay and to destroy the credibility” of Kavanaugh, Santorum said.

“Christine Blasey Ford didn’t want to tell her story,” Santorum argued.

Berman countered, “She chose to do it ultimately.”

“Yeah, ultimately, because her name was exposed by the Democrats!” Santorum shouted. “John, just be honest about this stuff. You’re just glossing over ridiculous claims that somehow the Republicans were complicit in this. They were not.”

Santorum apologized on Twitter for his crude language, writing, “I apologize to the anchors on @CNN @NewDay and the viewers for using profanity during the show. No excuses. Stand by substance of what I said, but not how I said it. #tcot.”

Berman accepted Santorum’s apology, tweeting, “We very much value your perspective. And I have said much worse.”
