Having won the slimmest of victories in confirming Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, President Donald Trump should not celebrate, according to author and commentator Bill O’Reilly.

He should fight back, O’Reilly argued. The sexual-assault allegations that nearly blocked Kavanaugh were no accident, O’Reilly said Thursday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.” They were part of an orchestrated campaign of the progressive Left, he said.

“I just don’t think he knows what’s going on,” he said. “I don’t think he knows the seriousness.”

O’Reilly (pictured above) said Trump should order an FBI investigation to uncover who leaked the name of the first of Kavanaugh’s accusers, Christine Blasey Ford, who had asked to remain anonymous.

Instead, O’Reilly said, Democrats manipulated the explosive allegation for maximum political impact. After dropping it like a bomb after Kavanaugh had been through his confirmation hearing, Democrats insisted Ford be believed and that long-standing principles of presumption of innocence and due process did not apply, he said.

“Trump should really see a bigger picture. He takes everything personally and he fights back effectively, himself. But I don’t know if he’s seeing the big picture of what’s happening here.”

O’Reilly said the whole experience was a familiar one for him. He alluded to sexual harassment accusations that drove him out of Fox News, where he had hosted cable’s highest-rated show for 20 years.

“I went through this, myself, all right? And I saw things leveled against me that were insane. And, you know, at this point in this country, people are going to have to want to make a decision,” he said.

“The progressive Left has figured out that they have the media in their pocket and they can do what they want. They can do exactly what they want, and they almost got Kavanaugh. They almost got him,” O’Reilly said.

O’Reilly, author of the new book “Killing the SS: The Hunt for the Worst War Criminals in History,” said he believes the country has gone beyond the tumultuous 1960s. The “corrupt media” are embracing the “most radical progressive movement” in American history, he added.

The former host of Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor” said reporters have depicted protesters who have accosted senators and other prominent Republicans in restaurants and other public places as spontaneous actors filled with rage. In fact, he noted, many worked for left-wing organizations funded by deep-pocketed progressives such as George Soros.

“In the past, journalism, reporters, would have investigated it,” he said. “Because there’s huge money behind it. But they don’t now. Instead, they promote it. They are in business with the radical Left.”

It is up the president to counter the leftist movement, O’Reilly said.

“Trump should really see a bigger picture,” he said. “He takes everything personally and he fights back effectively, himself. But I don’t know if he’s seeing the big picture of what’s happening here.”
