A suspicious package addressed to CNN was intercepted on Monday in Georgia, according to that network — just days after more than a dozen packages containing pipe bombs (like the ones pictured above, center) were mailed to prominent Democrats and CNN’s Time Warner Center in New York City.
CNN President Jeff Zucker said in a statement that the package — bearing a similar appearance to those last week — was intercepted at an Atlanta post office near the CNN Center, as The Hill and others reported.
Zucker noted that all mail is being screened off-site — so the offices were never in any danger.
Last week, two of the packages believed to be mailed by suspect Cesar Sayoc, 56 (pictured above left), were addressed to CNN.
One of the packages, addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, made it to the mailroom of CNN last Wednesday.
Another package, addressed to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper — who serves as an analyst for CNN — was also found, Fox News noted.
“This morning, another suspicious package addressed to CNN was intercepted at an Atlanta post office. There is no imminent danger to the CNN Center. All mail, at all CNN domestic bureaus, is being screened at off-site facilities as of last Wednesday, so this package would NOT have come directly to the CNN Center, even if it hadn’t been intercepted first,” CNN said in a statement.
“Our screening process is working, and we will keep you updated as we learn more,” the company added.

The incident last Wednesday at CNN’s broadcast studios prompted a building evacuation as anchors Poppy Harlow and Jim Sciutto were reporting live on air, Fox News noted.
Authorities said the packages discovered last week contained “a live explosive device” and were addressed to former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Joe Biden, Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) and Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), former Attorney General Eric Holder, actor Robert De Niro, and donors George Soros and Tom Steyer.
None of the bombs detonated.
Members of law enforcement arrested Cesar Sayoc on Friday morning near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and charged him with five federal offenses. He’s due to make his first court appearance on Monday.

Terry Turchie, a former FBI counterintelligence officer, said Friday night on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” that decades-old technology — fingerprints — matched a package to the suspect.
“It’s really tremendous when you can find intact devices,” he said. “Also, it indicates [that] no matter how complicated, you have to make sure you stay with shoe leather and police work and pay attention to the tedious.”
Turchie added that investigators were fortunate Sayoc had previously been arrested and, therefore, had fingerprints in the system.
“This man, of course, has been arrested off and on, and spent time in prison his whole life,” he said.
“So they were able to at least start the ball rolling with that. It was a big break.”
