One of the most talked about boxing matches in recent years was between Floyd Mayweather Jr. (shown above left) and Manny Pacquiao (above right).
The May 2015 match in Las Vegas, which Mayweather won, was hyped almost nonstop before it occurred.
Mayweather, 41, made a reported $220 million from that fight.
Though the undefeated boxer (his record is 50-0) promised to retire last year after his match against mixed martial artist Connor McGregor, Mayweather has announced he will have a rematch with Pacquiao later this year.
“I’m coming back to fight Manny Pacquiao this year,” Mayweather wrote on Instagram.
“Another 9-figure payday on the way,” he also wrote.
The announcement was posted with a video that appeared to show the two fighters speaking together at an event.
Their exact words in the video were not clear, however.

Though the last fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, who is 39, received a stunning amount of media attention, many people felt Mayweather cheated Pacquiao — who was the underdog in that match — out of a chance at victory.
It was a slow fight, and Mayweather spent most of the time scoring points rather than physically going head-to-head with his opponent.
After winning his match against McGregor last year, Mayweather acknowledged the disappointment that fans felt from the Pacquiao fight. He said it was motivation for him to not only fight McGregor but also to be more aggressive in the ring when he did so.
Mayweather made hundreds of millions of dollars from his victory against McGregor in August of last year. He promised after that fight that he would be retiring his boxing gloves for good.
It appears, however, that the opportunity to take on Pacquiao again — along with the enticing payday — are too much temptation for the fighter.
Pacquiao last fought Lucas Matthysse in July and won that match.
It is expected that both fighters will be earning huge paydays for this new match, though it’s unclear when it will take place.
Fans have already been taking to social media to give their varied responses to the idea of a rematch.
Some feel the fighters are too old to put on an exciting fight, while others are glad they’ll get a chance to potentially see the intense fight they expected the first time around in 2015.

Pacquiao had just torn his rotator cuff when he fought Mayweather in May 2015. Should've won anyway bc HE was the aggressor start to finish (as Holyfield said). BUT I'M SORRY, IT WILL BE HARD TO GET NEARLY AS EXCITED ABOUT A REMATCH IN DEC WHEN THEY'RE BOTH 40-PLUS YEARS OLD.
