The communications director for Mike Pence is vociferously denying that the vice president is behind the anonymous New York Times op-ed that denounces Donald Trump‘s alleged chaotic and dangerous tendencies, as Mediaite reported.
The New York Times on Wednesday published an op-ed article by an unnamed senior administration official who called President Trump “erratic.”
It also described a “quiet resistance” of Trump cabinet members who have quietly talked about taking steps to remove him from office.
“The dilemma — which he [President Trump] does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations,” the op-ed declared.
“We believe our first duty is to this country,” the anonymous author wrote, “and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic.”
The piece continued, “That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office.”
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has already called for the writer of the op-ed — whoever that person may be — to resign.
The anonymously written op-ed is causing a firestorm because it describes an inner White House circle working to restrain the president before his “amorality” damages the country.

This comes as veteran journalist Bob Woodward‘s new bombshell-filled book is also causing a stir. The book by the Watergate star and Washington Post editor suggests that some members of Trump’s team are frantically working to stop him from dangerous, ill-considered actions.
Both Trump and others in his administration have called the book a work of fiction and vehemently disputed the claims.
Woodward asserts that President Trump often chews out aides for incompetence or disloyalty — and that he berates his generals for not yet winning the war in Afghanistan.
The journalist also details how former staff secretary Rob Porter and Gary Cohn, senior economic adviser, objected strongly to the president’s tough stance on tariffs and trade.

As people continue to guess the identity of the unknown “senior Trump official,” some political observers have convinced themselves it may very well be the vice president.
Pence senior staffer Jarrod Agen is biting back in blunt terms, blasting The New York Times for even publishing the anonymous op-ed in the first place.
“The Vice President puts his name on his Op-Eds,” Agen tweeted. “The @nytimes should be ashamed and so should the person who wrote the false, illogical, and gutless op-ed. Our office is above such amateur acts.”
