You read this right: Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore told CNN he believes President Donald Trump is likely to win a second term in 2020.

Moore is famous for several documentaries, including “Bowling for Columbine,” “Fahrenheit 9/11,” and “Sicko.”

He appeared on CNN to promote his new film, “Fahrenheit 11/9,” which is focused on Trump’s first election victory in November 2016.

The filmmaker declared, “Too many people in the summer of 2016 were so sure Hillary [Clinton] was going to win, saying no one is going to vote for this idiot.”

He then added, “He could win again. I operate as if he is a two-term Trump. I have to. If you think any other way, you are guaranteeing that whoever is going to run against him will lose.”

Contrary to what many on the Left believe — that Donald Trump isn’t that smart — Moore said he thinks that the president is actually “an evil genius.”

He told CNN bluntly, “I think the man is an evil genius and was able to outsmart the smartest person ever to run for president. He figured out how to win by losing the election. How did that happen? Historians are going to deal with this for years to come.”

On the subject of the many leaks supposedly coming from the White House — which President Trump has openly attacked as treasonous — Moore said that he thinks Trump and his team are responsible.

This includes the recent op-ed that was published anonymously by The New York Times.

“Trump wrote it,” asserted Moore.

“Trump or one of his minions wrote it. He’s the master distractor,” he added. “He’s the king of the misdirect. If we have learned anything by now, it’s that he does things to get people to turn away. Let me give you the line in there that is most identifiable that he wants the public to believe. It’s the line that says, ‘Don’t worry, adults are in the room.’ That’s the idea, to get us to calm down and look away from what he’s really doing.”

The op-ed has been the subject of enormous speculation since it was released.

It describes staff at the White House supposedly removing documents from the president’s desk to prevent him from signing them — and conspiring to distract Trump from issues they’d rather he not address.

The upcoming “Fahrenheit 11/9,” which opens on September 20, will follow this theme, explaining how, in Moore’s words, “there’s a long road to Trump, and we have all sadly been on it.”
