The self-styled champion of women, Michael Avenatti — who became famous by representing an adult film actress — said Monday that the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh should be withdrawn.
Appearing on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” Avenatti (pictured above left) acknowledged it may be impossible to discern the truth of the sexual assault allegations that have made been against the federal appeals court judge.
But he added that the allegations are serious.
“We’re talking about a lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. And you’re talking about basically instilling Judge Kavanaugh as, you know — I use the term ‘a king’ because these individuals that are put on the court basically are kings. I don’t think a lot of people have an appreciation for how much power that they have and possess for decades after having been on the court.”
Kavanaugh (above right) has categorically denied the accusations by Christine Blasey Ford, a California college professor who says the nominee held her against a bed and tried to tear off her clothes during a house party in the 1980s, when they were both high school students.
The Senate Judiciary Committee responded Monday by scheduling a hearing for next week to interview both Ford and Kavanaugh under oath.
Avenatti represents Stephanie Clifford — aka Stormy Daniels — in her lawsuit, which seeks to get out of a nondisclosure agreement with President Donald Trump so that she can talk freely about an affair she says they had more than a decade ago.

Avenatti has parlayed the case into maximum exposure for himself — including dozens of cable television appearances. He’s even manufactured speculation that he himself might run for president in 2020.
He suggested to host Chris Cuomo that next week’s hearing is not even necessary in order to walk away from Kavanaugh. If the nominee were not so “arrogant” — said a man publicly contemplating a presidential campaign — he voluntarily would withdraw.

“Look, there’s a lot of qualified judges and attorneys in the United States that can fill this role,” he said.
“My understanding is that Dr. Ford has already passed a lie detector test. If Donald Trump was smart, and he’s not, he would pull the nomination, and he would move to the next nominee on the list and start over.”
