“Last Man Standing” finally returned to television screens on Friday night — and it scored big ratings.

The season seven premiere of the right-leaning sitcom earned a 1.8 rating in the much-coveted 18-49 demographic and a total average of 8 million viewers on Fox, its new network.

To put that number in perspective, the season six premiere of “Standing” — which aired on ABC — averaged a 1.2 rating and 6.4 million viewers — which still made it the network’s second highest-rated sitcom at the time.

The program’s season premiere was the highest-rated Friday night show and Fox’s most-watched comedy in seven years — excluding NFL game nights.

“The Cool Kids,” which had its series premiere after “Standing,” benefited from the lead in and scored a 1.5 rating and 6.8 million viewers.

The ratings for “Last Man Standing” are a huge victory for Fox, the network that decided to pick up the Tim Allen sitcom after ABC controversially canceled it last year.

ABC’s cancellation of the series was met with numerous protests and fan petitions asking for the show back.

The network provided very little explanation for the cancellation — again, the show was its second highest-rated sitcom — and many believed that politics were the reason for the decision to ax the show.

“Last Man Standing” is a series that follows Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), an old-fashioned conservative struggling to raise his daughters in an increasingly politically correct world.

The show is known for being more accessible to conservatives and Trump supporters in its comedy than many other programs on television.

Lead actor Tim Allen is also an outspoken right-leaning voice who consistently provides a perspective different from that of Hollywood’s loudest leftists.

“Last Man Standing” scored big because it is filling a vacuum on television. There are more than enough comedies with humor aimed at the president and conservatives — nearly every late-night program, “Our Cartoon President,” “Will & Grace,” “Murphy Brown,” etc. — and “Last Man Standing” provides content of such an aggressive agenda.

“Roseanne” was a friendly show for conservatives for a bit, but with its cancellation — also by ABC — “Last Man Standing” is really the only comedy on television right now with a conservative-leaning perspective.

If its ratings suggest one thing, it’s that audiences are hungry for something other than politically driven comedy shows with lazy, tired jokes aimed at Trump and conservatives.

“Last Man Standing” airs new episodes on Fox, Friday nights at 8 p.m. EST.
