Actor Jon Voight is one of the few outspoken supporters of President Donald Trump in Hollywood.

Currently starring in the Showtime series “Ray Donovan,” Voight appeared on Fox News’ “Life, Liberty & Levin” on Sunday night and discussed the “slander” he feels leftist critics are using against Trump.

“The virulence is because he’s effective,” said the Academy Award-winning actor. “He’s actually doing what he said he would do. Amazing thing in itself, isn’t it?”

He added that the Left is “conjuring lies and slander” to stop Trump and his agenda.

Voight added that the mainstream media are in “disarray” as they desperately work to try to oust the president.

“This is their dying breath. They have to stop him somehow. So you see these very extraordinary things they come up with — that’s what they do,” the “Deliverance” star said.

He also said the Establishment is “trying to destroy this presidency. It’s that simple.”

Voight later touched on his own industry and its leftward leanings.

While he admitted liberals have “infiltrated” the entertainment industry, he said there are a lot more conservatives in Hollywood than most people would imagine.

When Levin asked the actor why leftists want to control Hollywood, Voight responded, “Because they’re important. That’s why the Left is focused on Hollywood. That’s why they’re focused on our universities. They know exactly what they’re doing. They’ve organized and been very effective. So we have a very big job on our hands.”

Voight has long been a vocal supporter of Trump. He endorsed him early on for president and even spoke at Trump’s inauguration in January of last year, an event many within the entertainment industry openly disparaged and encouraged others to boycott.

The actor has condemned some of Trump’s harshest Hollywood critics, such as his vulgar and childish “Heat” co-star Robert De Niro.

Voight also touched upon his recently deceased co-star and friend Burt Reynolds in his interview with Levin. The actor remembered Reynolds as one of the “gods of the industry.”

“He was such a delight,” Voight said of his friend.
