Now, actor and comedian Jim Carrey — who has become far more of an activist in recent years than ever before — has said this new program, “Kidding,” will aim to remind all Americans that no one, including President Donald Trump, can take away their innocence.

Carrey appeared Thursday night with liberal late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel to discuss the new program he’s created, which will air on Showtime this Sunday night.

Carrey told Kimmel that the character he plays, Mr. Pickles, is similar to good ol’ Mr. Rogers.

“The show is about a beautiful human being with a huge heart [whom] everyone’s trying to protect. And lightning hits his life. And everyone’s super-concerned that he’s going to [fall apart],” Carrey told Kimmel.

“Mr. Rogers would come out on a show like this, and he’d be so absolutely authentic that you can’t even find the irony,” he also said. “There’s nothing you can hold up to him to make fun of him because he’s so sincere … We’re really reminding people that we’re all innocent. We still have it. We haven’t lost it.”

He continued, “No Trump can take it away from us.” (At that, the audience applauded.)

“It will always be there,” he continued. “And it’s proven out when you see a person like Mr. Rogers and you go, ‘Wow I still have that in me, that total belief in goodness,’ you know? So that’s what it’s all about.”

Carrey, who is 56 and was born in Canada, has been relentless in his criticism of the current president.

His outrageous and often vulgar paintings of Trump or of other White House officials have ripped into the administration for one issue or another.

The actor and Golden Globe winner was once widely heralded for his creative performances on the big screen in such films as “Liar, Liar” and “Dumb and Dumber.”

But he’s now focused on political activism through his artwork — and his latest creation, which he unveiled this week, carries the hashtag “#CapitalismWithAConscious” [sic].

“Thank you, @Nike, for just doing it,” Carrey wrote on Twitter.

Carrey’s new piece of artwork, as seen in his tweet above, shows former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his controversial anthem-kneeling position.
