First lady Melania Trump added to the 9/11 tributes from all over the nation on Twitter before joining her husband, President Donald Trump, for the memorial service honoring Flight 93 victims in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on the 17th anniversary of that horrific day.

Melania Trump shared a somber picture of herself and POTUS standing with two military guards on each side; it was taken outside the White House.

Both the guards and the president held up their hands in salute form.

“A somber tribute at Flight 93 National Memorial this morning,” Melania Trump wrote.

“We honor the many lost at the hands of evil on 9/11. It’s a time to remember the strength of this nation & the power that comes from unity, leadership & courage. God bless this great nation.”

She finished her tweet with: “#NeverForget.”

While FLOTUS surely intended her photo to be her own unique way of reflecting and paying tribute to the victims and the families of 9/11, it was not well-received by many in the Twittersphere.

Some people found her comments and posting distasteful and “narcissistic,” as Inquisitr reported.

Many believed it would have been more appropriate for her to post a patriotic image — like the picture of the twin towers her stepson Donald Trump Jr. posted on his Instagram page — instead of a shot of herself and POTUS.

In just shy of 24 hours since the time it was posted, Melania’s tribute to 9/11 accumulated almost 9,000 retweets and 45,000 likes.

“To commemorate 9/11 you post an image of … yourselves. Ok,” wrote one person.

“Never forget what an embarrassment the man beside you is,” said another.

“Who was a bigger hero that day?” responded another.

“First responders and citizens who came together in tragedy … or Donald (and whoever he was married to at that time) who was able to see the benefit to himself because he now was the owner of the tallest building in NY??”

Unphased by the snark her tribute received, Melania Trump posted a second photo of herself and President Donald Trump attending the memorial service, as Inquisitr noted.
