Many people have been slamming the Nike company for its new ad campaign featuring former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, including the president himself — but you can count comedian Jim Carrey as a fan.

The first ad featuring Kaepernick included an image of his face with the phrase “Stand for something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”

This, of course, sent the internet into a frenzy, since Kaepernick really hasn’t sacrificed much of anything since leaving the NFL early last year.

He may claim he’s being persecuted for being politically active — he originated the controversial national anthem kneeling actions, after all — but he’s received bigger and more successful offers since then. He’s received a book deal, television deal, several media awards — and now he headlines this ad campaign, which is meant to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Nike’s famous slogan, “Just do it.”

“Just like the NFL, whose ratings have gone WAY DOWN, Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts. I wonder if they had any idea that it would be this way? As far as the NFL is concerned, I just find it hard to watch, and always will, until they stand for the FLAG!” President Donald Trump tweeted this week about the athletic gear maker’s partnership with Kaepernick.

Taya Kyle, widow of late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, took to Facebook to criticize the company and to say she was joining in on widespread boycotts.

Two-time Academy Award winner James Woods publicly dropped stock in the company and encouraged others to do the same. Nike’s stock did, in fact, take a hit following the release of the first Kaepernick ad.

Despite these major criticisms, Nike can at least count “Dumb and Dumber” and “Liar Liar” star Jim Carrey as a fan.

The comedian, who is now better known for releasing sometimes head-scratching paintings through Twitter than anything else, released a painting celebrating Nike’s partnership with Kaepernick.

The painting features Kaepernick kneeling and the words, “Nike just did it.”

Many people have been taking to social media to rip apart Carrey’s celebratory artwork as well as Nike’s deal with Kaepernick.
