Reports of the threat of a “mass shooting event” at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday night swirled across Twitter and other social media outlets.

And though details were sketchy for some time, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) of D.C. confirmed to The Hill that it has been investigating the threat. “MPD vehicles were seen outside the hotel Tuesday night,” The Hill reported Wednesday morning.

Twitter suspended the account where the threat first appeared.

The threat referenced the goal of “shoot[ing] up a meeting there supporting President Donald Trump,” according to reports, including by The Daily Mail.

The Drudge Report on Tuesday night included this alleged threat as well, with a link to the Daily Mail piece noting that police were on the scene.

A reporter from The Daily Wire also noted this on Twitter Tuesday night:

A planned Tuesday evening event was to take place on the evening of Sept. 11, 2018 — and the threat allegedly was made ahead of that event on the Twitter account.

The account allegedly supported the Democratic Socialists, a far-Left political group.

“I am coming with a gun and i expect to get numerous bloodstained MAGA hats as trophies,” the Twitter account said — with a reference to the well-known Trump campaign slogan, “Make American Great Again.”

“The threat, made by DreamstarJustic, was made in response to a tweet by Cassandra Fairbanks asking who was going to the event,” according to the website Heavy.

“DreamstarJustic replied in a since-deleted tweet, ‘I am coming with a gun and i expect to get numerous blood-stained MAGA hats as trophies.”

The folks at Twitchy also reported this: “As people who scan Twitter all day, we see a lot of threats by Twitter randos that don’t seem to carry much weight, but Cassandra Fairbanks wasn’t about to let this tweet go by without alerting police.”

See the tweets below that reference this:

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the threat, department spokesman Hugh Carew told DailyMail.com, adding that no further details were immediately available,” as that outlet reported Tuesday night.
