Exclusive: Check Out This Clip from the Upcoming ‘Gosnell’ Film

“Gosnell” is a movie that has fought tooth and nail to make its way to theaters.

The film covers subject matter that isn’t exactly friendly territory for mainstream leftist Hollywood.

“Gosnell” follows the case of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia abortion doctor who was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder and one count of involuntary manslaughter in 2013. Gosnell and his co-defendants were originally charged with eight counts of murder, 24 counts of performing illegal abortions, and 227 counts of violating the informed consent law, which states clients should be given a certain amount of time before deciding on a major procedure.

Gosnell was found to be performing illegal, late-term abortions, and his clinic was described as a “house of horrors.”

Though the case was shocking and made Gosnell one of America’s most prolific serial killers, the mainstream media mostly ignored the case — which is also a piece of the story that the upcoming film covers.

After attempts to censor their material by Kickstarter, producers had to switch to the crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

Producers managed to raise over $2 million for their budget.

Then came delay after delay. Studios did not want to drop the film in theaters. Even though it scored well with test audiences, mainstream studios were afraid to take on a movie that touched on abortion.

Then a lawsuit from the real-life judge in the Gosnell case delayed the release once again.

Now “Gosnell” is hitting theaters nationwide on October 12, when it will face off against “First Man,” the controversial Neil Armstrong movie that purposefully cut out the planting of the American flag on the moon.

“Gosnell” was directed by Nick Searcy, best known for starring in the television hit “Justified”; written by Andrew Klavan author of best-selling novels such as “Empire of Lies” and “True Crime”; and stars Dean Cain, best known as Superman/Clark Kent from “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.”

Despite its subject matter, “Gosnell” is rated PG-13, and none of Gosnell’s grisly crimes are actually shown on the screen.
