Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) made an appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Monday — during which he claimed that Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, was “extremely credible.”

“She took a lie detector test. She talked [about] this to her therapist. They were having family counseling in part because of what happened to her,” said Schumer of Kavanaugh’s 11th-hour accuser.

“To come out and say something like this puts you and your family through incredible scrutiny,” the Democratic senator continued on the program.

“People throw brickbats at you and everything else. She didn’t do it on a whim. I don’t think she did it for political reasons. She has a great deal of credibility.”

Schumer’s comments on the chat show occurred before the day’s most dramatic events unfurled on this issue: The Senate Judiciary Committee late Monday afternoon decided to set a hearing for early next week — guaranteeing a high-stakes showdown between the nominee and the woman who has accused him of sexually assaulting her back when they were both high schoolers in the early 1980s in the Washington, D.C., area.

Senate Republicans had planned to push the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh forward in the Judiciary Committee on Thursday.

Instead, the committee now will hear from both Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford on September 24.

Abby Huntsman argued on “The View” that Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) held onto the letter from Ford for a very long time.

The FBI had already conducted a background check — the agency didn’t find anything.

“We don’t hide from things when they come to the surface. Usually, the truth will win in the end.”

But Schumer argued back that when a woman is abused, she should be allowed to choose how, when, why and where she detailed the particulars of her personal story.

He also claimed that Sen. Feinstein sat on the letter for months because Ford requested that she do so.

“Because professor Ford asked her not to and you have to respect that! I think when the investigation is finished and when she testifies and Judge Kavanaugh testifies, I think a majority of senators will find her credible,” argued Schumer.

Earlier on “The View,” Huntsman argued that Democrats wanted to stall the vote on Judge Kavanaugh.

“Well, this is a serious allegation from this woman. We live in a different time where if you’re a Republican senator, you can’t say, ‘Well, no, we have to vote, we can’t hear her side of the story.’ Democrats knew that. One thing I love about this country is we’re transparent. We don’t hide from things when they come to the surface. Usually, the truth will win in the end,” argued Huntsman.
