Superstar Carrie Underwood revealed on “CBS Sunday Morning” this weekend that her new single, “Cry Pretty,” was based on some crushing personal hardships she experienced over the past two years.

Among those hardships, she explained, are the plans she’d had for all of last year — which included writing her music and having a baby.

While the “American Idol” winner and now star performer, 35, became pregnant in early 2017, she suffered a miscarriage, she said.

She explained that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, said, “God, we know this just wasn’t your timing, and that is — that is all right. We will bounce back and figure our way through it.”

However, she became pregnant again in the spring of 2017 and again in early 2018 — and had a miscarriage both times.

She and her husband had had their first child in February 2015.

She said that it was extremely difficult for her to hold together as her personal life seemed to be falling apart, but still had to put on a “brave face” and do interviews and photoshoots — plus write songs for the new album.

She loved her work, the Oklahoma native said, but she had trouble managing to look happy and keep focused after she received horrible news from her doctors.

“I had always been afraid to, like, be angry. Because we are so blessed.”

In addition to the blessing of her son, Isaiah, she talked about how she felt blessed with her husband, Mike, and her country music career, which had come to her as a result of her win in 2005 on “American Idol,” on the fourth season of the popular show.

But she said that she got mad anyway.

Underwood will go on tour this upcoming spring for her new album, “Cry Pretty.”

Eventually, when she thought she had suffered yet another miscarriage, she lay down next to her son, Isaiah, and prayed that if God didn’t want her to have a child, He would shut the door and keep her from getting pregnant.

However, when she went to the doctor two days later to confirm the miscarriage she suspected, it turned out that everything was fine.
