Out of the blue, it appears, another accuser has come forward to charge Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh with sexual misconduct dating back years and years ago, to the early 1980s.

The New Yorker is reporting Sunday night in a new piece that a woman named Deborah Ramirez, 53, who attended Yale with Brett Kavanaugh, has alleged the following, according to Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer for that publication.

Note the graphic nature of the material here.

“After six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney, Ramirez said that she felt confident enough of her recollections to say that she remembers Kavanaugh had exposed himself at a drunken dormitory party, thrust his penis in her face, and caused her to touch it without her consent as she pushed him away. Ramirez is now calling for the F.B.I. to investigate Kavanaugh’s role in the incident,” The New Yorker piece said.

It’s no surprise that at least one Democrat has already leapt upon this latest information.

“‘This is another serious, credible, and disturbing allegation against Brett Kavanaugh. It should be fully investigated,’ said Sen. Mazie Hirono, of Hawaii,” the piece noted.

The New Yorker piece also said that “an aide in one of the other Senate offices added, ‘These allegations seem credible, and we’re taking them very seriously. If established, they’re clearly disqualifying.'”

The judge — a husband and father of two girls — is a highly respected individual whom dozens and dozens of colleagues, friends, former classmates, and many others have steadfastly backed.

The question on Sunday night — one question among many — is what action will the Senate Judiciary Committee take in the week ahead, given the tentatively scheduled hearing to occur on Thursday for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford?

The piece also notes this about Ramirez: “She was at first hesitant to speak publicly, partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident. In her initial conversations with The New Yorker, she was reluctant to characterize Kavanaugh’s role in the alleged incident with certainty.”

“The offices of at least four Democratic senators have received information about the allegation, and at least two have begun investigating it,” The New Yorker article said.

“Senior Republican staffers also learned of the allegation last week and, in conversations with The New Yorker, expressed concern about its potential impact on Kavanaugh’s nomination.”

The allegations are as yet unconfirmed, and much more needs to be learned about these charges.

“This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple,” said Kavanaugh.

Brett Kavanaugh has vigorously denied the earlier allegations against him by Christine Blasey Ford and did from the moment they came to light.

He also immediately addressed the new charges.

The New Yorker piece includes this: “In a statement, Kavanaugh wrote, ‘This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen. The people who knew me then know that this did not happen, and have said so. This is a smear, plain and simple. I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name — and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building — against these last-minute allegations.'”

The White House is standing by the nomination, the publication noted.
