Broadway star Carol Cooke is now the latest entertainer in this country to joke about wishing for the assassination of President Donald Trump.

The 94-year-old Broadway star (shown above left) was asked on Sunday evening by TMZ for her thoughts on “Frozen: The Broadway Musical” actor Timothy Hughes’ taking a “Trump 2020” sign from an audience member following a recent performance.

“I didn’t see that,” replied the actress, who has appeared in such plays as “The Three Penny Opera.”

She then added, “My answer to that is, ‘Where’s John Wilkes Booth when you need him?’”

The actress continued on that line of reasoning: “Now you’re going to ask me who the hell John Wilkes Booth is.”

John Wilkes Booth, as many know, is the man who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln in April 1865 during the performance of a play.

Cooke then added, “He killed presidents.”

Cooke seemed to know the controversy her statement would cause, as she also said, “Will that get me in trouble? Will I be on an enemies list?”

She is only the latest to joke about the assassination of the president of the United States.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp did so last year while at a film festival in England.

Despite those words, Depp continues to be employed by Disney — which fired both James Gunn and Roseanne Barr for their distasteful remarks — and he will soon appear in the latest addition to the “Harry Potter” franchise.

Comedian Eddie Griffin did the same while performing on stage.

Whether or not one agrees with Trump’s politics and policies, the assassination of a president is a horrible tragedy, period.

There are no positives that come from such an event.

To wish for such a thing is ridiculous and downright unpatriotic.

Besides her work on Broadway, Cook is also known for appearances on shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Charlie’s Angels,” and “Murder, She Wrote.”

Legendary actress is setting a terrible example for younger artists who might be looking to comment on politics or to criticize the president.

Movies she has also starred in include “American Gigolo” and “Home on the Range.”

At the age of 94, Cook may not care much about the fallout from her words — but the legendary actress is setting a terrible example for younger artists who might be looking to comment on politics or to criticize the president.

All of these artists are prime examples of why so many people are sick and tired of celebrities’ weighing in on politics or political topics.
