Forbes has revealed the highest-paid actors of 2018 — and George Clooney and Dwayne Johnson topped the list.
Though Clooney has been quiet on the acting front lately, the 57-year-old reportedly collected a smooth $239 million between June of last year and June of this year. This was thanks to the sale of Casamigos Tequila, a company Clooney owned along with friends — and it sold for a whopping $700 million, with the potential of another $300 million in the future.
“If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion-dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes,” Clooney told CNBC last year about the deal.
Dwayne Johnson, who has recently headlined hits such as “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” meanwhile earned $124 million.
Johnson currently stars in “Skyscraper” and credits a lot of his box-office success to social media and all that goes with it.
“Social media has become the most critical element of marketing a movie for me,” the actor told Forbes.“I have established a social media equity with an audience around the world that there’s a value in what I’m delivering to them.”
Coming in third on the list for actors was Robert Downey Jr., with $81 million.
Downey has become known in recent years as the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, anchoring hits including “Spider Man: Homecoming” and “Avengers: Infinity War” with his Iron Man/Tony Stark character.
The top 10 earning actors made a combined $748.5 million.
Meanwhile, the top 10 actresses pulled in far less than that, at $186 million.
Topping the list of Hollywood actresses’ pay was Scarlett Johansson, with $40.5 million. She is most famous for her role as Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Behind her were Angelina Jolie ($28 million) — and then Jennifer Aniston ($19.5 million).
One would think that with all of this money, all of this cash and income floating so freely around Hollywood and the coasts, leftist celebrities would like capitalism a whole lot more than they profess to do.
