Hollywood celebrities are at it again (they’ve never stopped, to be honest) — and this time they’ve shifted their vitriolic gazes toward first daughter Ivanka Trump.
Their coordinated “Dear Ivanka” attack, which started on Instagram earlier this week, calls out the president’s daughter for a failure to use her imaginary powers to change the laws to conform to the glitterati’s preferences.
Oh — and they’d like her to go ahead and get Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen to quit her job, too, while she’s at it.
The attention of the nation — and the media — has largely turned to the 2018 midterms, much to the disappointment of celebrities and others. Some are still hyperfocused on the family separation issue that arose when border security officials finally began following the laws that were first put in place by the Bush and Obama administrations.
President Donald Trump has since changed that policy, facilitating prompt and ongoing family reunification — but that is not enough for denizens of La-La Land.
Ivanka Trump, of course, is not a lawmaker, and it is not within her purview to grant the glitterati’s latest spate of virtue-signaling, in which they insist she magically end imagined “racist, inhumane and unconscionable abuses now!”
Leading the pack of celebrity attack dogs are actor and comedian Amy Schumer (shown above left, at the top of this article), model Alexa Chung (shown above, far right), and director Paola Mendoza.
The “Dear Ivanka” campaign is a ho-hum retread from last fall, as the Huffington Post noted. In its original iteration, celebrities whom Ivanka Trump followed on Instagram used the same “Dear Ivanka” pseudo-letter format to call on her to advocate for the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act.
Alexa Chung was among those who reposted both last year’s and this year’s versions.
.@ivankatrump, You said family separation was a "low point" for you. But how do you think the families felt? Abuses took place on your father’s watch & under the leadership of Sec. Nielsen. She must resign. Sign this petition https://t.co/j0RTcg1EYg #FamiliesBelongTogether pic.twitter.com/UwPbzJ4X1Z

All the celebrities writing their dEaR iVaNka posts are the same ones who would definitely be drinking an aperol spritz with her in the Hamptons

Why does she deserve public shaming? I don't understand. You come here ILLEGaLLy you pay the consequences. Try getting into China and see what happens. Ivanka has no control over what her father does.
